Superfest began three years ago under the direction of Art Wilmore,
director of PLNU athletic ministries, and alumnus Jared Callahan
('05), as a way to reach out to the San Diego community by opening
PLNU’s campus to youth groups and families.
Youth from 5-12 years old have enjoyed Superfest PLNU with coaches, athletes and celebrity guests ever since. Participants receive athletic instruction, develop their skills, and enjoy competitions.
Each participant receives a Bible and the Gospel is presented with an opportunity for youth to receive the Lord.
In the summer of 2012, Wilmore and Marcus Preciado, sports director for the Rock Church, put on the first Superfest International event in Manila, Philippines, with 175 youth attending.
They will return next June to coordinate the multi-sport event at the Olympic training site in Manila.
