Azusa Pacific 1st, Fresno Pacific 6th in final NAIA 2011-12 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup

Azusa Pacific CLEVELAND, OH Azusa Pacific claimed the top spot and Fresno Pacific finished sixth in the final NAIA Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.

Both institutions will transition to the NCAA Division II Pacific West Conference and compete in full schedules in 2012-13.

APU tallied 918.00 total points in 12 sports en route to its eighth straight Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup.

Azusa Pacific won the women’s indoor track & field national championship, came in second in women’s cross country and men’s track & field, and placed third in women’s soccer, men’s tennis and women’s outdoor track & field.

APU will be honored at the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Luncheon on Tuesday, June 26, at the 47th Annual NACDA Convention in Dallas, TX.

Fresno Pacific Fresno Pacific placed sixth with 681.50 points after taking second in men's tennis, third in women's tennis, ninth in men's track & field and 22nd in women's track & field.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports -- six women’s and six men’s.
