BYU-Hawaii @ Dixie State on Feb. 22 in PacWest Men’s Basketball Game of the Week
ST. GEORGE, UT – On Wednesday
night, Feb. 22, the PacWest Game of
the Week will feature BYU-Hawaii visiting Dixie State
in what could decide the 2011-12 Pacific West Conference
Men’s Basketball Championship and a berth in the NCAA II
Tournament.
Each week during the men’s basketball season, the PacWest will spotlight a game that will be broadcast live over the Internet.
The Red Storm and Seasiders will tip off at 7:30 p.m. (MST) with the audio and video broadcast available.
BYU-Hawaii (14-9/11-3 PacWest) enters the contest as the lone team with a chance at catching the Red Storm in the race for the PacWest Championship.
If Dixie State (19-4/14-1) wins, the Red Storm claims the PacWest Championship outright and the NCAA II West Region berth thanks to the automatic qualifier.
The teams first met on Feb. 4 in Laie, HI, where Dixie State
overcame a 37-28 halftime deficit to nip the Seasiders 70-69.
Senior guard Jake Dastrup (Grant’s Pass, OR/Grant’s Pass) led BYU-Hawaii in scoring with 22 points after making 6 of 8 three-point attempts, while Seasider senior guard Jet Chang (Yilan, Taiwan) contributed 16.
Sophomore forward Bracken Funk (Highland, UT/Lone Peak) tossed in 14 points with 11 rebounds.
Senior forward Griffon Jones (Cheney, WA/Cheney) led the Red Storm with 16 points and seven rebounds, while senior forward/center Solomon Jensen (Centerville, UT/Viewmont) tallied 15 points with seven boards.
