Holy Names University celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Feb. 6
OAKLAND - Holy Names University celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Wednesday, Feb. 6, by hosting its inaugural HNU NGWSD Fun 5k Run/Walk.
The institution’s focus was to celebrate healthy minds and bodies.
The Holy Names Athletic Department joined forces with the Student Engagement Office, the Relay for Life Committee, HNU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and Mills College to put on the event. The race gathered more than 100 participants.
In 2012, HNU celebrated NGWSD for the first time in the school’s history by inviting Title IX advocate Amy Wilson to speak in an effort to educate and celebrate Title IX at 40.
HNU continues to celebrate Title IX and women in sports by remembering the women and men who work to ensure gender equity. Throughout the school year HNU has celebrated Title IX on the volleyball court and the soccer and softball fields.
