PacWest expands its reach through a variety of social and traditional media

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Pacific West Conference is expanding its reach to its fans through a variety of traditional and new media initiatives that include social media interaction.

“This is an exciting time for the PacWest,” Commissioner Bob Hogue said. “In addition to the conference expanding its number of institutions, we also have been busy expanding our social media and traditional media efforts to spread the word about the great happenings in the PacWest. You can see the excitement literally building on our website at www.thepacwest.com. Tom Di Camillo and Wayne Coito are doing an outstanding job of showcasing the PacWest!”

The growing PacWest Channel on YouTube features a variety of videos on the people, places and happenings around the league. Director of New Media Wayne Coito is spearheading the effort, along with ever-increasing use of PacWest Twitter and PacWest Facebook. The YouTube offerings include highlights, interviews and scenes from campuses around the conference.

Social media links are now woven into our website – www.thepacwest.com - that showcases tweets on the front page. Links to game stories, live stats, broadcasts and box scores are available for most events along with post- and pre-event Tweets to keep fans in tune with the latest results.

Also in September, The PacWest Magazine Radio Show re-launched as an Internet-based 30-minute program on www.KQCKLive.com in San Tan Valley, Ariz. The show is hosted by Tom Di Camillo, assistant commissioner for media relations, and highlights a variety of student-athlete, programs and administrative personnel from the schools throughout the PacWest.

In addition to the audio broadcast, the program is delivered in high definition streaming video live from the KQCK studios each Thursday at 1 p.m. MDT, 12 p.m. PDT/MST, and 9 a.m. HT.

Fans also can have information delivered right to their e-mail accounts with PacWest News Delivered to You. Followers of the conference can sign up to receive news releases, including players of the week for all of the sports and All-PacWest selections.
