Chaminade names Jill Ward associate athletic director for compliance, SWA

HONOLULU, HI - Jill M. Ward has been named associate director of athletics for compliance and senior woman administrator at Chaminade University.

In a role familiar to her, Ward will be responsible for all phases of athletic compliance at Chaminade. She has extensive athletic administrative experience, previously serving as the director of athletics and associate director of athletics for compliance at Hawai‘i Pacific University.

“The addition of Jill Ward to the Chaminade athletics department further establishes the university’s commitment to developing a solid administrative team and athletic program,” Bill Villa, director of athletics at Chaminade, said. “I firmly believe that compliance is the heart of the athletics department. It’s not outwardly visible, but if it isn’t working properly, just about everything can shut down. Our coaches and staff eagerly welcome the knowledge and experience that Jill brings to our organization. We definitely feel blessed to have her with us.”

Ward is excited about joining the Silversword staff.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Chaminade team during this time of its increasing commitment to athletics," she said. "In regard to compliance, Brother Bernie Ploeger, Bill and the Chaminade family show a dedication not only to following the letter and spirit of NCAA bylaws, but also to bettering the welfare of student-athletes.”

Ward has held various compliance and athletic administrative positions at Northwestern University and Loyola University Chicago. Her coaching experience includes a stint as the assistant women’s basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago from 1996-98.

She also worked for the NCAA in Indianapolis for three years as associate director of academic and membership affairs.

Licensed to practice law in Hawai‘i, Ward is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, receiving her juris doctor in May of 2000. Ward also received a master of arts in philosophy, medical ethics from Loyola-Chicago and received her bachelor of arts from Georgetown University.
