HPU sweeps PacWest weekly basball honors
HPU claims player, pitcher of the week while clinching PacWest
title
PHOENIX, AZ – Hawai‘i Pacific sophomore infielder Kale Sumner (Kailua, HI/Kailua) and junior hurler Michael Greene (Longview, WA/Lebanon) have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
The awards were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, April 26, for games contested April 19-25.
Sumner led the Sea Warriors to a 6-0 series sweep of Hawai‘i Hilo and the PacWest Championship by hitting .571 in six starts.
He went 12 for 21 with eight runs scored and five RBI. He
also tripled, homered, stole a base and walked three times.
Sumner produced an .810 slugging rate and a .625 on-base mark.
Greene earned a 4-1, complete-game win over Hawai‘i Hilo on April 23 by tossing 7.0 innings of work.
He struck out six, allowed six hits and gave up just one earned run.

Sea Warriors to a 6-0 weekend sweep of Hawai‘i Hilo...hit
.556 in five starts...went 10 for 18 with five runs scored, two
doubles, a triple and two RBI...stole two bases and walked
once...had a .778 slugging rate and a .579 on-base mark.
Tyler Davis - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-11, 170, OF, R/R, Central Point, OR/Crater)...helped the Sea Warriors to a 6-0 weekend sweep of Hawai‘i Hilo...went 9 for 18 with three runs scored, one triple and six RBI...posted a .611 slugging rate and was 4 for 4 in stolen base attempts...had a .500 on-base mark.
Troy Hunter - Dixie State (Fr., 6-3, 175, P, R/R, Las Vegas, NV/Centennial)...posted a 1.80 ERA in five innings of work in 6-1 win over Grand Canyon...struck out three and allowed one earned run.
Toby Inouye - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-11, 180, P, R/R, Honolulu, HI/Kaiser)...tossed a complete-game, seven-inning victory in game one of a PacWest twinbill vs. Hawai‘i Hilo on April 24...allowed just two earned runs, one walk and a 2.57 ERA...struck out seven.
Tony Nelson - Dixie State (Jr., 6-1, 180, IF, L/R, St. George,
UT/Dixie)...helped the Red Storm take 3 of 4 from
Grand Canyon in final PacWest series of the season...hit .583 in
four starts by going 7 for 12 with five runs scored, three doubles,
one triple and one RBI...walked once...posted a 1.000 slugging
percentage and a .615 on-base rate.
Bas Nooij - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 6-0, 200, C, R/R, Landsmeer, Netherlands/Caland Lyceum)...helped guide the Sea Warriors to a 6-0 weekend sweep of Hawai‘i Hilo...hit .316 in six starts, driving in 12 runs and scoring six others...went 6 for 19 with a triple and three homers...walked twice and was hit by a pitch...hit a sacrifice fly...posted an .895 slugging rate.
Drew Oldfield - Dixie State (Sr., 6-0, 180, C, S/R, Aurora, CO/Rangeview)...batted .533 in four starts during a 3-1 week for the Red Storm...went 8 for 15 with four runs scored and 10 RBI...doubled twice and hit two homers...walked once...produced a 1.067 slugging mark and a .563 on-base rate.
Justin Prodan - Dixie State (Jr., 6-1, 195, P, R/R, Rohnert Park,
CA/Rancho Cotate)...tossed a complete-game victory
over Grand Canyon on April 23...Red Storm won the game 8-3...struck
out six and allowed two earned runs in seven innings...scattered
nine hits and walked just two.
Trevor Santor - Grand Canyon (Fr., 6-0, 180, OF, R/R, Glendale, AZ/Ironwood)...batted .545 in four games and three starts at Dixie State...went 6 for 11 with two runs scored, one RBI, one double and one steal...reached once after being hit by a pitch...had a .636 slugging rate and a .583 on-base mark.
Kenny Turner - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-11, 180, IF, R/R, San Carlos, CA/Junipero Serra)...led HPU to a 6-0 sweep of Hawai‘i Hilo by hitting .500 in six starts...went 10 for 20 with six runs scored, six RBI and one double...walked four times and stole a base...had a .583 on-base mark and a .550 slugging rate.
