Brett Adams, Preston Grimes claim weekly honors
PHOENIX, AZ – Dixie State senior OF Brett Adams (Sandy, UT/Alta) and Red Storm senior hurler Preston Grimes (South Jordan, UT/Taylorsville) have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, March 29, for games contested March 22-28.
The duo led Dixie State to a 7-0 week, including a 6-0 mark in PacWest action.
Adams hit .476 and crushed four home runs in seven starts during the stretch. He went 10 for 21 with nine runs scored, two doubles, six walks and 13 RBI.
He also stole a base and hit a sacrifice fly, posted a .571 on-base average, and recorded a 1.143 slugging mark.
Grimes posted a 2-0 record during his two starts for the Red Storm, registering a 0.82 ERA in 11.0 innings of action. He allowed one earned run while striking out eight, and permitted just a .200 batting average by opponents.

Tyler Bair - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-0, 195, OF, R/R, Scottsdale, AZ/Coronado)...batted .600 in five starts during a 3-2 week for the Antelopes...was 12 for 20 with five runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI...had a 1.050 slugging rate and a .600 on-base mark...also dropped a sacrifice bunt and was 3 for 3 in steal attempts.
Joey Jacobson - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-0, 200, 1B, R/R, Scottsdale, AZ/Coronado)...hit .500 in five starts during a 3-2 week for the Antelopes...went 8 for 16 with four runs scored, five RBI, one double and one walk...produced a sacrifice hit...recorded a .563 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base rate.
Judd Jensen - Dixie State (Sr., 6-3, 210, IF, R/R, South Jordan,
UT/Taylorsville)...hit .478 in seven starts to lead
the Red Storm to a 7-0 week...went 11 for 23 with six runs scored,
four doubles and two RBI...walked twice...had a .520 on-base mark
and a .652 slugging rate.
Shane Kessel - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, 205, IF, R/R, Olympia, WA/North Thurston)...batted .429 with eight RBI and six runs scored for the Vulcans in eight starts...went 12 for 28 with three doubles, a home run, six runs scored and two walks...hit a sacrifice fly and dropped a sacrifice bunt...boasted a .643 slugging rate and a .452 on-base mark.
Todd Morlock - Dixie State (Sr., 6-2, 180, P, R/R, Magna, UT/Taylorsville)...played a part in three of Dixie State’s seven wins during the week...posted a 1-0 mark with two saves...earned victory in relief vs. Hawai‘i Hilo on March 22 in game two of a twinbill...claimed a save in game one...also earned a save vs. Academy of Art in game two of a doubleheader on March 27...registered a 2.08 earned run average over three appearances and 4.1 innings of action...allowed just one earned run on three hits while striking out four...opponents managed to hit just .188.
Tony Nelson - Dixie State (Jr., 6-1, 180, IF, L/R, St. George,
UT/Dixie)...helped the Red Storm to a 7-0 week...hit
.417 by going 10 for 24 with five runs scored, eight RBI and four
doubles...walked three times and stole a base...hit two sacrifice
flys...posted a .583 slugging percentage and a .448 on-base rate.
Drew Oldfield - Dixie State (Sr., 6-0, 180, C, S/R, Aurora, CO/Rangeview)...batted .524 in seven starts during a 7-0 week for the Red Storm...went 11 for 21 with 10 runs scored and eight RBI...roped four doubles and homered twice...walked two times and reached base after being hit three times...stole a base...produced a 1.000 slugging mark and a .593 on-base rate.
Justin Prodan - Dixie State (Jr., 6-1, 195, P, R/R, Rohnert Park, CA/Rancho Cotate)...whirled a seven-inning complete-game victory vs. Academy of Art on March 26 - a 5-2 Red Storm win...allowed one earned run and two walks while striking out 13 over the seven innings of work...registered a 1.29 ERA while allowing a .154 batting average.
Jeff Urlaub - Grand Canyon (Sr., 6-1, 195, P, L/L, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon)...tossed a seven-inning complete-game shutout vs. Hawai‘i Hilo on March 26 during a 5-0 GCU victory...struck out six and scattered five singles while allowing no walks and just a .185 batting average.
