PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific freshman infielder Kale Sumner (Kailua, HI/Kailua) and senior pitcher Caelan O'Meara (Windsor, CA/Santa Rosa) have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, March 8, for games contested March 1-7.

Sumner led the Sea Warriors to a 3-1 series victory over Grand Canyon by topping the PacWest in batting (.667), slugging (1.250) and on-base percentage (.750) for the week.

Caelan O'Meara He went 8 for 12 at the plate with nine runs scored, two doubles, a triple, a home run and three RBI. He also reached base twice on walks and two times after being hit by a pitch.

O'Meara tossed a 2-1 complete-game victory vs. Grand Canyon on March 5 during the weekend series with the Antelopes.

He posted a 0.00 earned run average over seven innings of work, allowing just one unearned run on four hits. He also struck out seven Antelope batters and yielded a scant .160 batting average.

Blake Amaral - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 6-1, 190, INF, R/R, Hilo, HI/Kamehameha Schools)...led the Sea Warriors to a 3-1 weekend series win over Grand Canyon by hitting .455 in four starts...was 5 for 11 with five runs scored, 11 RBI, one double, one home run and two walks...stole a base and hit a pair of sacrifice flys...recorded an .818 slugging percentage and a .467 on-base mark.

Blake Amaral Quinn Boyer - Dixie State (Fr., 5-11, 170, IF, R/R, Ogden, UT/Bonneville)...helped the Red Storm to a 5-1 week by hitting .500 in six starts...was 11 for 22 with eight runs scored, a double, a triple and four RBI...walked once, was hit by a pitch and stole three bases...posted a .520 on-base percentage and a .636 slugging mark.

Joey Bristyan - Grand Canyon (So., 5-8, 150, CF, L/L, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon)...scored nine runs and coaxed nine walks in eight starts during a 4-4 week for the Antelopes...went 8 for 24 with three doubles, two RBI and a .333 batting average...posted a .458 slugging mark and a .529 on-base rate.

Keoni Manago Tyler Davis - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-11, 170, OF, R/R, Central Point, OR/Crater)...cracked three triples in a weekend series vs. Grand Canyon...HPU posted a 3-1 mark in the series...was 5 for 14 with seven runs, a double and three RBI to go along with the trio of triples...hit .357 in his four starts...walked twice...had an .857 slugging rate and a .438 on base mark.

Keoni Manago - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-9, 175, OF, R/R, Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt)...batted .545 in four starts for the Vulcans during a 1-3 week...was 6 for 11 with two runs scored, one double, four RBI and a .636 slugging percentage...walked twice and stole two bases...had a .615 on-base mark.

Trevor Santor - Grand Canyon (Fr., 6-0, 180, OF, R/R, Glendale, AZ/Ironwood)...saw action in seven of GCU's eight games, including five starts...batted .444 with a .611 slugging percentage and a .474 on-base mark...went 8 for 18 with six runs scored, a double, a triple and two RBI...walked once and dropped a pair of sacrifice bunts.

Ryan Worley Rhett Welsh - Dixie State (Jr., 6-0, 175, C, R/R, Arvada, CO/Standley Lake)...hit .429 in five starts during a 5-1 week for the Red Storm...went 6 for 14 with five runs scored, one homer and three RBI...walked twice and dropped a sacrifice bunt...posted a .643 slugging rate and a .500 on-base mark.

Ryan Worley - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-11, 170, IF/OF, R/R, Oakland, CA/DeAnza)...posted a terrific week at the plate despite an 0-5 mark by the Urban Knights...hit .579 after going 11 for 19 with four runs scored, two doubles, a triple and two RBI...2 for 2 in stolen base attempts...registered a .789 slugging mark and a .579 on-base percentage.
