UC San Diego beats HPU in opening round
HPU falls in opening round of NCAA II West

COMPTON, CA - At the NCAA Division II West Region Baseball Tournament in Compton, CA, Hawai‘i Pacific fell to top-ranked UC San Diego by the score of 12-0.
The Sea Warriors (37-11) now have one loss in the double-elimination tournament and will face Chico State on Friday, May 14, at 2 p.m. PDT in an elimination contest.
Caelen O’Meara (6-2) was tagged with the loss for HPU, allowing seven earned runs during 2.2 innings of work.
Tim Shibuya (12-2) earned the win for UCSD, allowing no runs on five hits in eight innings.
Five Sea Warriors recorded one base hit each to lead the team.
Kyle Saul and Brandon Gregorich both posted three hits and three runs for the Tritons, who improve to 49-7 on the season.
HPU's Michael Greene and David Chow tossed five and one-thirds innings in relief of O’Meara, allowing four earned runs on eight hits.
