CBU OF Matt Marnati, Dixie State hurler Josh Mooney selected latest PacWest weekly honorees
PHOENIX, AZ - California Baptist junior OF
Matt Marnati (Yucaipa, CA/Yucaipa) and
Dixie State junior hurler Josh Mooney (American Fork,
UT/American Fork) have been selected the latest
Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the week,
respectfully.
The PacWest announced the honors on Feb. 13 for games contested Feb. 6-12.
(Feb. 13, 2012) - Player of the Week (Feb. 6-12)...Matt Marnati - California Baptist (Jr., 6-0, 190, OF, L/L, Yucaipa, CA/Yucaipa)...led the Lancers to a 3-1 weekend vs. Grand Canyon in PacWest opener...hit .600 and produced a phenomenal 1.133 slugging percentage to go along with a .647 on-base rate in four starts...went 9 for 15 with seven runs, two doubles, and two home runs...drove in five runs, walked twice and stole a base.
(Feb. 13, 2012) - Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 6-12)...Josh Mooney - Dixie State (Jr., 6-4, 225, P/OF, R/R, American Fork, UT/American Fork)...tossed a nine-inning complete-game victory vs. Art U on Feb. 10...allowed one run on three hits while striking out 11...had 1.00 ERA and allowed .111 batting average...issued just three walks.

Joe Andrade - Dixie State (Sr., 5-11, 175, C, L/R, Yuma, AZ/San Luis)...drove in 10 runs in four-game series sweep of Art U...hit .333, going 5 for 15 with three doubles...walked twice...had a .533 slugging rate and a .412 on-base mark.
Jon Bengard - California Baptist (Jr., 6-3, 180, P, R/R, Moreno Valley, CA/Canyon Springs)...tossed 7.0 innings in claiming his second win of the year - a 15-4 victory vs. Grand Canyon on Feb. 10...scattered five hits, allowed one earned run, permitted no walks and struck out one batter.
Stefan Cantwell - Dixie State (Fr., 6-2, 215, P, R/R, South Jordan, UT/Bingham)...claimed a 2-1 victory in relief on Feb. 10...tossed 3.0 brilliant innings...allowed no runs, hits nor walks...struck out five...lone base runner was a hit batter.
Andy Crowley - California Baptist (Fr., 5-9, 165, OF, L/L, Highland, CA/San Gorgonio)...hit .556 in four games and three starts for the Lancers...went 5 for 9 with two runs, a double, a triple and three RBI...posted an .889 slugging mark and a .583 on-base rate...had two walks and a sacrifice fly.
P.J. Garcia - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-11, 180, IF, L/R, Phoenix,
AZ/Thunderbird)...hit .545 in four starts during a
1-3 weekend at California Baptist...went 6 for 11 with three runs,
one homer and five RBI...posted an .818 slugging rate and a .600
on-base percentage...had a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice
bunt...walked twice and reached once after getting plunked.
Rylan Morihara - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-8, 145, OF, R/R, Honolulu, HI/Iolani)...led Sea Warriors to a 4-0 sweep of Hawai‘i Hilo Feb. 11-12...hit .474 in four starts, going 9 for 19 with five runs, three RBI, three doubles and a stolen base...had a .632 slugging rate and a .474 on-base mark.
Blair Moore - California Baptist (So., 6-3, 205, IF, L/R, Riverside, CA/Poly)...led the Lancers to a 3-1 weekend vs. Grand Canyon...hit .538 in four starts, going 7 for 13 with five runs, 9 RBI, one triple and one home run...walked once and reached twice after being hit...had a .923 slugging rate and a .588 on-base mark...hit a sacrifice fly.
Jace Poole - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-11, 175, OF, R/R,
Valentine, Australia/Warners Bay)...started and
played in three of the four games vs. Hawai‘i Hilo on Feb.
11-12...hit .571 by going 4 for 7 with five runs, two RBI, a stolen
base, two walks and two HBP...hit a sacrifice fly...catalyst who
help Sea Warriors sweep the Vulcans.
Wade Tamaru - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-7, 180, IF, R/R, Aiea, HI/Mid Pacific Institute)...hit .438 in four starts during a sweep of UHH...went 7 for 16 with four runs, eight RBI, one double and one stolen base...reached base twice after getting hit...had both a .500 slugging and on-base rate.
Cory Yuh - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 6-1, 190, P, L/L, Waipahu, HI/Pearl City)...earned 3-1 win vs. Hawai‘i Hilo on Feb. 12...tossed a complete-game win...allowed a run on two hits over 7.0 innings...struck out four...posted a 1.29 ERA.
