INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Dixie State College of Utah is one of 48 teams selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.

The Red Storm received the news on Sunday, May 13, during the NCAA II Baseball Championship Selection Show broadcast live from the NCAA headquaters in Indianapolis.

The baseball national championship provides for eight regional sites – six sites will host six teams, the West Region will host four clubs, and the South Region will host eight teams.

All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played May 17-21. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 26-June 2 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, NC. The finals will be hosted by Mount Olive and the town of Cary.

Dixie State (32-18) earned its first berth in the NCAA II National Championship Tournament and will enter the West Regional on Thursday, May 17, as the second seed against #3 UC San Diego (32-22). Top seed and host Western Oregon (40-9) will take on #4 Chico State (37-16) at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

The double-elimination tournament will be played at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer, OR, May 17-20. Tickets for the West Regional will be on sale at the Volcanoes ticket office prior to the tournament and on game day.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students each day. The tickets may be purchased through www.volcanoesbaseball.com or by calling 503-390-2225. Parking at the stadium will be $3 per vehicle.
