Hawai‘i Hilo's Kekoa Lee, Ronnie Loeffler take final PacWest Player, Pitcher of Week awards
PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Hilo's Kekoa Lee and
Ronnie Loeffler claimed the final Pacific
West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards,
respectively.
The PacWest announced the awards on May 9 from its office in Phoenix, AZ, for games contested May 2-8.

- Player of the Week (May 2-8)...Kekoa
Lee -
Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, 185, P/OF, L/L, Waipahu,
HI/Moanalua)...led Vulcans to a 4-0 sweep of Art U in
regular-season final series...hit .500 by going 8 for 16 with four
runs scored, seven RBI and two walks...had a .625 slugging rate and
a .556 on-base mark...stole a base.
(May 9, 2011) - Pitcher of the Week (May 2-8)...Ronnie Loeffler - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, 195, P, R/R, Hilo, HI/Waiakea)...tossed seven innings to earn the win vs. Art U on May 4 in an 8-3 victory...allowed one earned run on two hits with two walks...struck out six...permitted a 0.91 batting average and a 1.29 ERA.
PacWest Baseball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll
Zach Babitt - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-8, 165, IF, L/R, Richmond,
CA/Albany)...batted .417 in four starts for the Urban
Knights despite an 0-4 series at Hawai‘i Hilo...went 5 for 12
with four runs, three walks and one HBP...was 3 for 3 in stolen
base attempts...had a .417 slugging rate and .563 on-base mark.
Zachary Hamaski - Hawai‘i Hilo (So., 5-5, 150, OF, L/L, Kaneohe, HI/Roosevelt)...helped push the Vulcans to a 4-0 series sweep of Academy of Art on May3-4...hit .375 in three starts...went 3 for 8 with two runs, one RBI, three walks and two stolen bases...had a .545 on-base mark and a .375 slugging percentage.
Dan Hennigs - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-11, 195, U, R/L, Ferndale, WA/Ferndale)...claimed the victory in the regular-season finale vs. Art U on May 4...allowed no runs on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts over 5.0 innings of action...permitted a .125 batting average while producing a 0.00 earned run average.
Jonathan James - Hawai‘i Hilo (So., 6-2, 190, IF, R/R, Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama)...helped the Vulcans to a 4-0 record in final series of the season vs. Academy of Art...hit .455 in four starts, going 5 for 11 with two runs and five RBI...had a .455 slugging rate...walked three times and reached after being hit twice...posted a .625 on-base mark.
Keoni Manago - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, 180, OF, R/R,
Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt)...hit .333 in 4-0 sweep of
Academy of Art...went 5 for 15 with seven runs scored...doubled
twice and drove in three runs...walked twice, stole two bases and
was hit by a pitch...posted a .467 slugging rate and a .444 on-base
mark.
Bryan Raines - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-1, 175, P, R/R, Kaneohe, HI/Castle)...earned a win in relief over Art U on May 3...pitched 2.1 innings out of the bullpen, striking out two while permitting no earned runs on three hits...Vulcans won the contest 9-6 after rallying for five runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Steven Riddle - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-0, 185, OF/IF, L/L, Burlingame, CA/Burlingame)...hit .364 in four starts during a 4-0 week for the Vulcans...went 4 for 11 with a run and two RBI...walked once, stole a base and hit a sacrifice fly...dropped a sacrifice bunt.
Johnathan Robbins - Academy of Art (Sr., 5-9, 180, OF, R/R,
Charlotte, NC/Providence)...topped the PacWest in
hitting during the final week of the season...hit .553 in four
starts vs. Hawai‘i Hilo...went 8 for 15 with three runs
scored, one double and one RBI...walked once and stole three
bases...had a .600 slugging rate and a .563 on-base mark.
Tyler Simao - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-1, 180, P, R/R, Makakilo, HI/Hanalani)...earned a 6-3 win over Academy of Art on May 3...tossed 6.0 innings of action...allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out five...scattered seven base hits.
Joshua Wong - Hawai‘i Hilo (So., 6-1, 185, IF, R/R, Mililani, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama)...led the Vulcans to a 4-0 record in final series of the season vs. Academy of Art...hit .455 in four starts, going 5 for 11 with two runs, one double and one RBI...had a .545 slugging rate...walked twice and reached after being hit once...had a sacrifice bunt...posted a .571 on-base mark.
