HPU rookie Keanu Kapana, Hawai‘i Hilo senior Ronnie Loeffler garner PacWest weekly awards
PHOENIX, AZ – Hawai‘i Pacific freshman
catcher Keanu Kapana and
Hawai‘i Hilo senior hurler
Ronnie Loeffler have been named the
Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week,
respectively.
The PacWest announced the awards on March 7 from its office in Phoenix, AZ, for games contested Feb. 28 - March 6.

2011) - Player of the Week (Feb. 28-March
6)...Keanu Kapana - Hawai‘i
Pacific (Fr., 6-2, 205, C, R/R, Ewa Beach, HI/Campb
ell)...led the Sea Warriors to a 3-1
week...hit .563 in four starts, going 9 for 16 with seven runs
scored, seven RBI, two doubles and three walks...had a .688
slugging rate and a .632 on-base mark.
(March 7, 2011) - Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 28-March 6)...Ronnie Loeffler - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, 195, P, R/R, Hilo, HI/Waiakea)...tossed a nine-inning complete-game victory vs. Grand Canyon on March 1...won the contest 6-1...allowed just one earned run on three hits in the contest...struck out six and walked four.

Blake Amaral - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 6-1, 190, IF, R/R,
Hilo, HI/Kamehameha Schools)...hit .471 in four
starts during a 3-1 week for the Sea Warriors...went 8 for 17 with
five runs scored, two doubles, one RBI and two walks...had a .588
slugging rate and a .526 on-base mark.
Eric Bond - Dixie State (Jr., 6-1, 185, OF, L/R, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon)...led the Red Storm to a 4-1 week by hitting .714 in five starts...went 5 for 7 with six runs and a pair of doubles...posted a 1.000 slugging percentage...also walked six times to help produce an .846 on-base mark.
R.J. Etchebarren - Grand Canyon (Sr., 6-1, 195, OF, R/R, Phoenix, AZ/Paradise Valley)...batted .436 in nine starts during a 3-6 road trip to Hawai‘i...was 17 for 39 at the plate...scored six runs, ripped two doubles, and produced eight RBI...walked four times...had a .487 slugging rate and a .488 on-base mark.
Kalab Evans - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-8, 185, C, R/R, Creston, IA/Creston)...hit .533 in nine starts in Hawai‘i...was 16 for 30 at the plate with 10 runs scored, seven RBI, three doubles, one triple and one home run...walked five times...dropped a sacrifice bunt...converted 3 of 4 stolen base attempts...had an .800 slugging rate and a .600 on-base mark.
Trevor Goff - Dixie State (Jr., 5-10, 170, OF, L/L, Las Vegas,
NV/Centennial)...helped the Red Storm to a 4-1 week
by hitting .600 in five games and just three starts...was 6 for 10
with six runs scored, five RBI and four walks...had a sacrifice fly
and two sacrifice bunts...stole a base...posted a .600 slugging
percentage and a .667 on-base mark.
Michael Greene - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 6-1, 180, P, R/R, Longview, WA/Lebanon)...tossed a nine-inning complete-game victory vs. Grand Canyon on March 5...scattered nine hits and struck out nine Antelopes...allowed three earned runs.
Kekoa Lee - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, 185, P/OF, L/L, Waipahu, HI/Moanalua)...pitched 7.0 shutout innings in 2-0 Vulcan victory vs. Grand Canyon on Feb. 28...allowed four hits and four walks while striking out six...permited a .167 batting average.
Tyson Littlewood - Dixie State (Jr., 6-0, 190, IF, R/R, St. George,
UT/Pine View)...helped lead the Red Storm to a 4-1
week by batting .421 in five starts...went 8 for 19 with four runs
scored, five RBI and three doubles...walked twice and was hit by a
pitch...registered a .579 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base
rate.
Wade Tamaru - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-7, 160, IF, R/R, Aiea, HI/Mid Pacific Institute)...batted .571 in leading the Sea Warriors to a 3-1 week...went 8 for 14 at the plate with three runs scored and four RBI...walked once and hit a sacrifice fly...stole a base...had a .571 slugging rate and a .563 on-base mark.
Ammon Zitting - Dixie State (Jr., 6-0, 165, IF, R/R, Pleasant Grove, UT/Lone Peak)...helped the Red Storm to a 4-1 week by hitting .500 in five starts...was 7 for 14 with seven runs scored, three RBI and three walks...had a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt...posted a .500 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base mark.
