BYU-Hawaii senior guard Marques Whippy named PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of the Year

PHOENIX, AZ – The head coaches of the Pacific West Conference have selected BYU-Hawaii senior guard Marques Whippy (Bua, Fiji/Woods Cross, UT) as the 2010-11 PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Dixie State Head Coach Jon Judkins was named the PacWest Coach of the Year for the third straight season, while Chaminade junior center Mamadou Diarra (Bamako, Mali/Stoneridge Prep) earned PacWest Newcomer of the Year honors.

Academy of Art rookie forward William Overton, Jr., (Perth Amboy, NJ/Leuzinger, CA) claimed Newcomer of the Year accolades.

The PacWest announced the four major awards from its office in Phoenix, AZ, on Wednesday, March 9, along with the 2010-11 All-PacWest Team.
