NDNU visits Dominican on Saturday in PacWest Men’s Basketball Game of the Week
PHOENIX, Ariz. – A Bay Area rivalry heats up this
Saturday, Jan. 28, when Notre Dame de Namur visits
Dominican (CA) in the PacWest Game of the
Week.
Each week during the men’s basketball season, the PacWest will spotlight a game that will be broadcast live over the Internet. The Argos and Penguins will tip off at 7:30 p.m. PST.
NDNU enters the contest 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the PacWest, but the Argos are on a roll after knocking off Chaminade and BYU-Hawaii in consecutive games last week. The losses by both teams were their first of the year.
Senior guard Arron Mollet (Campbell, CA/Del Mar), junior forward/center Wesley White (Los Angeles, CA/Inglewood) and senior guard Tyler Fricke (San Diego, CA/Mount Carmel) lead the Argos this season. All three players are averaging in double-figures.
Fricke tops the NDNU squad with his 11.9 points-per-game average, while White is recording 11.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Mollet is contributing 10.4 points per outing.
Junior center Jacob Noisat (Santa Rosa, CA/Elsie Allen) is the top point-getter for Dominican. He is averaging 11.1 points per contest this season while also pulling down 6.6 rebounds per game.
Junior forward Jammal Clark (Redlands, CA/Redlands East
Valley) is averaging 9.1 points per contest this
year, while in conference games he has upped his average to
10.6.
The Penguins are 3-15 overall and 2-5 in the PacWest this season but have proven to be dangerous on the court.
Dominican pulled off a pair of huge wins over Grand Canyon and Dixie State to start conference play, while four of their five conference losses have come against teams currently tied for first place in the PacWest.
Those setbacks included a 74-73 heartbreaker vs. BYU-Hawaii, a 78-70 defeat vs. Chaminade, and a 72-62 overtime loss vs. California Baptist.
