Dixie State's Maurice Cole earns another PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor
PHOENIX, AZ - Dixie State senior guard
Maurice Cole (Norwalk, CA/Santa Fe) has
been named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball
Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 6, for games played Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
Cole led the Red Storm to a 3-0 week in Hawai‘i that included back-to-back road victories at Chaminade and BYU-Hawaii when first place was on the line.
He averaged 11.3 points, 6.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 52.0% (13 for 25) from the floor.
He led the PacWest in assists per game for the week and - when combining his scoring and assist average - Cole was responsible for more than 23 points per outing.

Matt Cousins - Chaminade (Sr., 6-8, 235, F/C, Santa Rosa,
CA/Cardinal Newman)...averaged 15.3 points and 8.3
rebounds per game in a 1-2 week for the Silverswords...ranked third
in rebounding and seventh in scoring for the week in the
PacWest...also ranked ninth in shooting after making 14 of 22
(63.6%) field goal attempts...shot 75.0% (18 for 24) from the
line.
Luke Evans - California Baptist (Jr., 6-8, 215, C, Oceanside, CA/El Camino)...averaged 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Lancers...ranked second in scoring and fourth in rebounding for the week in the PacWest...shot 65.5% (19 for 29) from the floor - eighth best in the league for the week.
Bracken Funk - BYU-Hawaii (So., 6-7, 240, F, Highland, UT/Lone Peak)...averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 assists and 9.0 rebounds per game during a 1-1 week for the Seasiders...shot 50.0% (11 for 22) from the field...hit 2 of 4 (40.0%) three-point attempts...ranked second in rebounding, tied for fourth in assist average and tied for eighth in scoring for the week in the PacWest.
Jerome Garrison - Grand Canyon (Fr., 6-3, 180, G, Phoenix,
AZ/Mountain Pointe)...helped Antelopes carve out a
2-1 week in Hawai‘i...averaged 15.7 points per game while
shooting 60.0% (12 for 20) from the floor...ranked sixth in scoring
and tied for 11th in shooting for the week in the PacWest...was
devastating from the line, converting 22 of 25 (88.0%)
attempts...ranked ninth in free throw shooting for the week in the
league.
Steve Morin - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-5, 195, G, Scottsdale, AZ/Saguaro)...helped lead the Antelopes to a 2-1 week in Hawai‘i...averaged 12.7 points per game...shot 57.9% from the field - all from three-point land...made 11 of 19 long-range attempts.
Jacob Noisat - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 6-8, 220, C, Santa Rosa, CA/Elsie Allen)...led Penguins to a 2-0 week by averaging 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game...shot 55.6% (10 for 18) from the field...tied for fourth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...made 12 of 17 (70.6%) attempts from the line.
Ivan Patterson - California Baptist (So., 6-3, 190, G, Menifee, CA/Paloma Valley)...averaged 16.0 points while shooting 70.4% (19 for 27) from the field during a 2-1 week for the Lancers...CBU captured 2 of 3 games in Hawai‘i...tied for fourth in scoring and ranked second in shooting for the week in the PacWest.
Ameer Shamsud-din - Academy of Art (Jr., 6-2, 200, G, Portland,
OR/Benson)...led the PacWest in scoring for the week
despite Urban Knights going 0-2...averaged 20.0 points per
game...shot 90.9% (10 for 11) from the line...averaged 2.0 steals
per contest - tying for fourth in the league for the week.
Wesley White - Notre Dame de Namur (Jr., 6-7, 210, F/C, Los Angeles, CA/Inglewood)...averaged 10.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Argos...ranked first in rebounding in the PacWest for the week...also averaged 1.0 blocks per game.
Justus Von Wright - California Baptist (Sr., 6-3, 200, F, Arcadia, CA/Van Nuys)...helped Lancers to a 2-1 week by averaging 15.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game...tied for fifth in rebounding and tied for eighth in scoring in the PacWest for the week...shot 45.0% (9 for 20) from beyond the arc...averaged 3.0 three-pointers made per game during the week...tied for second in three-pointers made per game and ranked 10th in three-point shooting for the week in the league.
