Dixie State's Maurice Cole earns his third PacWest Player of the Week honor since Jan. 30
PHOENIX, AZ - Dixie State senior guard Maurice
Cole (Norwalk, CA/Santa Fe) has earned his third
Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
honor since Jan. 30.
The PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, announced the award on Monday, Feb. 20, for games played Feb. 13-19.
Cole led the Red Storm to a home-and-home sweep of California Baptist week by averaging 18.5 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
He ranked fourth in scoring, second in assist average, and sixth in committing steals for the week in the PacWest.
He shot 65.2% (15 for 23) from the field, went 5 for 5 from the line, and hit a pair of three-point buckets.
Cole scored a career-high 26 points and passed out six assists on Feb. 18 in a 70-67 comeback win vs. CBU.
The Red Storm can clinch a share of the PacWest title and the NCAA II Automatic Berth with a victory over BYU-Hawaii on Feb. 22.

Jet Tsung-Hsein (Jet) Chang - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 6-4, 190, G, Yilan,
Taiwan/Sing Rong)...scored 29 points, handed out five
assists and shot 68.8% (11 for 16) from the field in 80-72 win over
Dominican (CA) on Feb. 16 - the Seasiders lone game of the
week...also went 2 for 4 (50.0%) from beyond the arc...was 5
for 5 at the line.
Jammall Clark - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 6-6, 220, F, Redlands, CA/Redlands East Valley)...led the Penguins to a 2-1 week in Hawai‘i by averaging 15.7 points per game and shooting 69.2% (18 for 26) from the field...tied for seventh in shooting and ranked 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest...shot 84.6% (11 for 13) from the free throw line.
Bracken Funk - BYU-Hawaii (So., 6-7, 240, F, Highland, UT/Lone Peak)...scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, handed out four assists and shot 75.0% (6 for 8) from the field in 80-72 win over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 16 - the Seasiders lone game of the week...also had three steals and went 2 for 3 from the line.
McKay Massey - Dixie State (Jr., 6-2, 185, G, Payson, UT/Payson)...helped Red Storm inch closer to a PacWest title during a home-and-home series sweep of California Baptist...Dixie State finished the week with a 2-0 record...averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 assists and shot 85.7% (6 for 7) from the line over the two games...did not commit a turnover during the week...also shot 61.5% (8 for 13) from the floor...connected on 3 of 5 (60.0%) attempts from beyond the arc...ranked seventh in three-point shooting for the week in the league.
Michael Melonas - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-6, 257, F, Ventura,
CA/Ventura)...scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds
and shot 62.5% (5 for 8) from the field in Vulcans’ lone game
of the week - a 66-61 loss vs. Dominican (CA) on Feb. 18...made 6
of 8 (75.0%) attempts from the line.
Arron Mollet - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 6-2, 175, G, Campbell, CA/Del Mar)...led Argos to a 1-1 week by averaging 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game...tied for eighth in scoring in the PacWest for the week...shot 83.3% (5 for 6) from the line...shot 48.0% (12 for 25) from the floor.
Braylon Pickrel - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-10, 215, F/C, Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain)...scored 19 points and inhaled 11 rebounds during GCU’s lone game of the week - a 75-59 win over Academy of Art on Feb. 13...shot 63.3% (7 for 11) from the floor...also had three steals...went 4 for 4 from the line.
Ameer Shamsud-din - Academy of Art (Jr., 6-2, 200, G, Portland, OR/Benson)...scored 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds, handed out three assists and committed three steals in 75-59 loss at Grand Canyon on Feb. 13 - the lone game of the week for the Urban Knights...made 4 of 6 attempts (66.7%) from the line.
Fran Urli - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 6-7, 230, F, Zagreb, Croatia)...scored 18 points and collected six rebounds during HPU’s 66-57 win over NDNU on Feb. 17 - the lone game of the week for the Sea Warriors...was perfect from the field after going 4 for 4...connected on 10 of 12 (83.3%) free throw attempts.
Zachary Wilde - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-6, 220, F, Snohomish, WA/Snohomish)...scored 21 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in lone game of the week - a 66-61 loss vs. Dominican (CA) on Feb. 18...shot 69.2% (9 for 13) from the floor.
