For second straight time, CBU's Luke Evans named PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of Week

Luke Evans PHOENIX, AZ - For the second consecutive time, California Baptist junior center Luke Evans (Oceanside, CA/El Camino) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Jan. 9, for games played Jan. 2-8.

Evans led the Lancers to a 3-0 week in the San Francisco Bay Area as California Baptist claimed three conference road victories in five days.

He averaged 16.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 66.7% (20 for 30) from the floor.

Evans tied for fifth in scoring and tied for sixth in shooting for the week in the PacWest, while he tied for eighth in blocked shots with a 1.3 per-game mark for the week.

Maurice Cole Okesene Ale - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 6-2, 170, G, Hau‘ula HI/Kahuku)...led the Seasiders to a 2-0 week with wins over PacWest foe Hawai‘i Hilo and non-league opponent Northwest Indian College...averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 three-pointers made per game during the week...ranked third in scoring, tied for fourth in assist average, ranked first in rebounding, and ranked third in three’s made per contest...shot 60.0% (6 for 10) from beyond the arc and 60.9% (14 for 23) from the floor...tied for fifth in three-point shooting for the week.

Jet Tsung-Hsein (Jet) Chang - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 6-4, 190, G, Yilan, Taiwan/Sing Rong)...led the Seasiders to a 2-0 week with wins over PacWest foe Hawai‘i Hilo and non-league opponent Northwest Indian College...averaged 21.0 points and a 9.0 assist/turnover ratio - both tops in the PacWest for the week.

LaBrent Chappell - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-10, 170, G, Fresno, CA/Clovis West)...helped HPU to a 1-1 week...averaged 17.0 points while shooting 66.7% (8 for 12) from the field...tied for sixth in shooting and ranked fourth in scoring in the PacWest for the week...perfect from the foul line after going 14 for 14...hit 4 of 7 (57.1%) three-point attempts...tied for seventh in three-point shooting for the week.

Jacob Noisat Maurice Cole - Dixie State (Sr., 6-0, 185, G, Norwalk, CA/Santa Fe)...helped Red Storm to 2-1 trip to the Bay Area...averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 55.6% (10 for 18) from the field...made 17 of 21 (81.0%) from the line...ranked third in three-point shooting (83.3%) after making 5 of 6 attempts.

Matt Cousins - Chaminade (Sr., 6-8, 235, F/C, Santa Rosa, CA/Cardinal Newman)...scored 16 points and collected eight rebounds in lone game of the week for the Silverswords - a 68-65 conference victory over HPU on Jan. 5...shot 8 for 10 (80.0%) from the line.

Griffon Jones - Dixie State (Sr., 6-5, 215, F, Cheney, WA/Cheney)...led Red Storm to 2-1 road trip to Bay Area...averaged 10.3 rebounds and 11.0 points per game...ranked second in pulling down loose balls off of the glass for the week.

Jacob Noisat - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 6-8, 220, C, Santa Rosa, CA/Elsie Allen)...led Penguins to a 2-1 start to the conference schedule with victories over Grand Canyon and Dixie State...averaged 14.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game...ranked fifth in rebounding and tied for 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest...shot 61.5% (16 for 26) from the floor...ranked 10th in shooting in the PacWest for the week.

Zachary Wilde Ivan Patterson - California Baptist (So., 6-3, 190, G, Menifee, CA/Paloma Valley)...helped Lancers to a 3-0 week by averaging 13.7 points, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game...tied for second in steal average for the week in the league...ranked second in shooting for the week...made 17 of 24 (70.8%) attempts from the field.

Ameer Shamsud-din - Academy of Art (Jr., 6-2, 200, G, Portland, OR/Benson)...averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 assists per game despite a 0-2 week for the Urban Knights...ranked first in assist average and second in scoring for the week in the conference....connected on 83.3% (5 for 6) of free throw attempts...hit 4 of 9 (44.4%) from behind the three-point line.

Zachary Wilde - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-6, 220, F, Snohomish, WA/Snohomish)...averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game despite a 0-2 week for the Vulcans...ranked eighth in scoring and third in rebounding for the week in the conference...shot 57.1% (12 for 21) from the floor.
