BYU-Hawaii visits Hawai‘i Hilo for PacWest Men’s Basketball Game of the Week on Dec. 8

Jet Chang HILO, HI – The PacWest Men’s Basketball Game of the Week will showcase BYU-Hawaii at Hawai‘i Hilo on Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Pacific West Conference opener for both clubs.

Each week during the men’s basketball season, the PacWest will spotlight a game that will be broadcast live over the Internet. The Seasiders and Vulcans will tip off at 5 p.m. (HAST) with the audio and video broadcast available for fans.

The Seasiders are 1-5 on the season and have faced a brutal schedule to kick off their 2011-12 campaign. Two of their five losses occurred at Division I Brigham Young University and Long Beach State, while the Seasiders played three games in four days in the Northwest during mid-November, falling to Central Washington, Western Washington and Seattle Pacific. Their lone victory of the season came against Alaska Fairbanks on Nov. 25.

Seasider senior guard Jet Chang (Yilan, Taiwan) leads BYU-Hawaii in scoring and is ranked second in the PacWest in points per game (16.0).

Junior forward Brady Hurst (Farmington, UT/Davis) is averaging 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest, while sophomore forward Bracken Funk (Highland, UT/Lone Peak) is scoring at a 10.7 per-game clip. Funk has been dominating on the boards, pulling down 7.8 rebounds per game to rank second in the PacWest.

Zachary Wilde The Vulcans are off to a terrific start at 4-1 this season. Hawai‘i Hilo has two victories over Western New Mexico, as well as wins vs. Alaska Fairbanks and Saint Martin’s (WA). The lone loss of the season came against Western Oregon on Nov. 12.

Junior guard/forward Terrell Mack (Portland, OR/Fort Vancouver), who is averaging 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, is tied for third in the PacWest in scoring and tied for 10th in pulling down caroms.

Senior forward Zachary Wilde (Snohomish, WA/Snohomish, WA/Snohomish) is ninth in scoring (12.4 ppg.) and sixth in rebounding (7.0 rpg.).

Junior forward Kiel Myers (Sacramento, CA/Valley) and junior guard Mychael Hearn (San Bernardino, CA/Cajon) are both averaging in double-figures, posting 10.4 and 10.0 points per game, respectfully. Myers leads the PacWest in shooting, hitting on 63.6% of his attempts from the floor.
