The first PacWest Game of the Week for 2012-13 features a Battle of the Bay Area
SAN FRANCISCO – The first PacWest Game of the
Week for the 2012-13 campaign features an amalgamation of
contests being played in the San Francisco area as the Battle of
the Bay highlights a showdown among eight men’s and
women’s basketball teams representing a quartet of Pacific
West Conference schools.
On Saturday, Dec. 8, the PacWest will be the dominant basketball conference in the Oakland-San Francisco area when Holy Names crosses the Bay Bridge into San Francisco to take on Academy of Art in a women’s and men’s doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. PST.
In the women’s game, the host Urban Knights are 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in the PacWest, while Holy Names is 2-2 overall and also owns a 1-0 mark in the conference.
The men’s game will follow at 3 p.m. and will feature two clubs looking for their first conference victories after dropping the league openers. Both squads are 0-1 in the PacWest, while Holy Names is 1-4 overall and Academy of Art is 1-5.

Notre Dame de Namur travels to San Rafael for a women’s and men’s twinbill starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
The Dominican and NDNU women are mirror images of each other with identical 0-1 league marks and 1-4 overall records.
The Dominican men, meanwhile, are 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference as they enter a regional rivalry contest vs. NDNU on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. PST.
The Argos lost all six of their non-conference bouts but rebounded with a huge win over Art U to start league play.
