Griffin’s dominating all-around performance earns Fresno Pacific second Player of the Week

Malcolm Griffin PHOENIX, Ariz. – Fresno Pacific junior guard Malcolm Griffin (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

The conference announced the award on Monday, Jan. 28, for games played Jan. 21-27. It marks the second straight week the Sunbirds have claimed the award.

Griffin led Fresno Pacific to a 2-0 week with key victories over BYU-Hawaii (92-83) and Hawai'i Pacific (94-87 OT). The Sunbirds have won five straight games, 8 of 10, and completed a season sweep of all four Hawai'i teams over a two-week period at home.

Griffin splashed his name all over the statistical charts during the week. He averaged 25.0 points per game to rank third in the PacWest for the week in scoring, while he also tied for fourth in rebounding after inhaling 10.0 per contest.

If that were not enough, Griffin led the PacWest in assist average, doling out 7.0 per contest, and topped the conference in steals per game with a 6.0 mark. He also shot 85.7% (6 for 7) from the line – tied for 10th in the league.

Antonio Credit (Sr., 6-7, 220, F/C, Flint, MI/West Bloomfield) – Fresno Pacific – averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 blocks and 12.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Sunbirds…tied for first in rebounding and led the PacWest in block average for the week…shot 87.5% (7 for 8) from the line - eighth-best in the conference for the week.

Waly Coulibaly (Sr., 6-3, 180, G, Bamako, Mali) – Chaminade – averaged 14.3 points, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 3.7 rebounds per game in a 3-0 week for the Silverswords…ranked ninth in the PacWest in free throw shooting for the week after making 13 of 15 (86.7%) attempts from the line…ranked 16th in scoring.

Farbod Farman (Jr., 6-11, 215, C, Mashhad, Iran) – Hawai'i Pacific – averaged 16.3 points per game despite a 0-3 week for the Sea Warriors…ranked 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…also ranked 19th in field goal percentage (53.1%) and seventh in foul shooting (88.2%)…made 15 of 17 attempts from the line…drained 17 of 32 shots from the field.

Bryan Fisher (Fr., 6-4, 190, G, Aliso Viejo, CA/Aliso Niguel) - Academy of Art – averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Urban Knights…tied for third in assist average, tied for 15th in rebounding, ranked ninth in scoring and tied for six in thievery for the week in the PacWest…shot 51.9% from the floor (14 for 27)…made 5 of 10 (50.0%) three-point attempts…tied for eighth in three-point shooting for the week in the league.

Killian Larson (Jr., 6-9, 270, C, Puyallup, WA/Puyallup) – Grand Canyon – led Antelopes to a 2-0 week by averaging 12.5 rebounds and 8.5 points per game…tied for first in rebounding in the PacWest for the week.

McKay Massey Joshua Lowery (Sr., 6-3, 200, G, Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) – Grand Canyon – averaged 19.0 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Antelopes…ranked seventh in scoring in the PacWest for the week…also averaged 2.0 steals per contest – tying for eighth-best for the week in the league…made 15 of 19 (78.9%) attempts from the foul line.

McKay Massey (Sr., 6-2, 185, G, Payson, UT/Payson) – Dixie State – unleashed 23 points on 58.3% shooting from the field in the Red Storm's lone game of the week – a 67-59 win over Azusa Pacific on Jan. 26…made 7 of 12 attempts from the floor…connected on 6 of 8 (75.0%) attempts from the line (left photo).
