Dixie State’s Zach Robbins claims 3rd PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of Week honor
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Dixie State sophomore forward/center Zach Robbins (Upland, CA/Upland) has earned his third Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor of 2012-13.
The conference announced the award on Monday, Feb. 11, for games played Feb. 4-10.
Robbins led the Red Storm to a 2-0 week by averaging 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game, while he shot 67.9% (19 for 28) from the field.
He topped the PacWest in shot rejections for the week, ranked second in rebounding, and tied for second in points per game.
He also was 10th in shooting percentage.

Okesene Ale (Sr., 6-2, 170, G, Hau'ula, HI/Kahuku) – BYU-Hawaii – led the Seasiders to a 1-1 week by averaging 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 4.0 assists per game…tied for second in scoring, tied for seventh in rebounding, tied for 10th in assist average and tied for third in steals per game in the PacWest for the week…went 8 for 8 from the line…tied for fifth in three-pointers made per game (3.0) for the week…tied for 14th in three-point shooting (50.0%) after making 6 of 12 attempts.
Alex Carmon (Fr-r., 6-3, 195, G, Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) - Academy of Art – averaged 22.0 points per game while shooting 58.8% (10 for 17) from the floor in a 1-1 week for the Urban Knights…tied for second in scoring in the PacWest for the week (left photo).
Anthony Consentino (Jr., 6-6, 215, F, Chula Vista, CA/Otay Ranch) – California Baptist – averaged 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game during a 1-1 week…shot 64.3% (9 for 14) from the field…tied for 13th in field goal percentage for the week in the PacWest…made 3 of 6 (50.0%) three-point attempts.
Farbod Farman (Jr., 6-11, 215, C, Mashhad, Iran) – Hawai'i Pacific – averaged 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Sea Warriors…tied for 10th in rebounding and ranked 12th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…ranked second in field goal percentage for the week (87.5%)…converted 14 of 16 field goal attempts.
Tyler Fry (Jr., 6-3, NA, G, Yuba, CA/Yuba City) – Holy Names – averaged 21.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 68.4% (13 for 19) from the field…ranked sixth in scoring, tied for 18th in shooting and ranked ninth in field goal percentage for the week in the PacWest…shot 76.9% (10 for 13) from the line…drained 7 of 11 (63.6%) attempts from beyond the arc…ranked ninth in three-point shooting for the week in the league.
Malcolm Griffin (Jr., 6-4, 210, G/F, Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy) – Fresno Pacific – pushed the Sunbirds to a 1-1 week by averaging 19.5 points, 5.5 assists, 4.0 steals and 5.5 rebounds per game…ranked ninth in scoring, tied for second in assist average, tied for 18th in rebounding and ranked first in thievery for the week in the PacWest…went 6 for 6 at the foul line.
Dalton Groskreutz (Jr., 6-5, 195, F, Santa Clara, UT/Snow Canyon) – Dixie State – averaged 14.0 points and 4.0 assists per game in a 2-0 week for the Red Storm…shot 57.9% (11 for 19) from the field and was 4 for 4 at the foul line…tied for 18th in scoring and tied for 10th in assist average for the week in the PacWest.

Bennie Murray (Sr., 6-5, 180, G, Fairfield, CA/Will C. Wood) – Chaminade – led the Silverswords to a 2-0 week by averaging 17.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game…ranked 10th in scoring and tied for 10th in assist average for the week in the PacWest…tied for 11th in three-pointers made per game (2.5).
Braylon Pickrel (Sr., 6-10, 215, F/C, Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain) – Grand Canyon – led Antelopes to an 81-70 win over Holy Names on Feb. 9 – the lone game of the week for GCU…scored 15 points and collected six rebounds in the win…shot 77.8% (7 for 9) from the field – third-best in the PacWest for the week.
B.J. Porter (Sr., 6-3, 190, G, Layton, UT/Layton Christian Academy) – Azusa Pacific – averaged 19.7 and 3.7 three-pointers made per game during a tough 1-2 week for the Cougars…ranked eighth in scoring and second in knocking down three-pointers per game for the week in the conference.
Ameer Shamsud-din (Sr., 6-2, 200, G, Portland, OR/Benson) - Academy of Art – averaged 22.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 three-pointers made per game in a 1-1 week for Art U…tied for second in scoring and tied for 10th in helping for the week in the PacWest…tied for fifth in three-pointers made per game.
John Taylor (Jr., 6-1, 175, G, Chicago, IL/North Lawndale) – Fresno Pacific – led Sunbirds to a 1-1 week by averaging 35.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game…topped the PacWest in scoring for the week…shot 76.5% (13 for 17) from the line…also averaged 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game.
