Dixie State’s Steve Larson earns latest PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of Week honor
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Dixie State junior forward/center Steven Larson (South Jordan, UT/Copper Hills) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference announced the award on Tuesday, Feb. 19, for games played Feb. 11-17.
Larson led the Red Storm to a 2-1 week by averaging 23.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting an astonishing 79.4% from the floor.
During the three-game week that featured a loss at Dominican on Feb. 11, and victories over Holy Names and Notre Dame de Namur on Feb. 14 and 16, respectively, Larson took a combined total of 53 shots – and he missed just 10. He was 27 for 34 from the field and went 16 for 19 (84.2%) from the foul line.
Larson ranked second in scoring, tied for 12th in rebounding, and ranked second in field goal percentage for the week in the PacWest.

Okesene Ale (Sr., 6-2, 170, G, Hau'ula, HI/Kahuku) – BYU-Hawaii – led Seasiders to a 2-0 week by averaging 21.0 points per game and shooting 60.9% (14 for 23) from the field…tied for 13th in shooting and tied for third in scoring in the PacWest for the week…shot 85.7% (6 for 7) from the line…tied for first in three-pointers made per game (4.0) for the week…shot 61.5% (8 for 13) from beyond the arc…ranked seventh in three-point shooting for the week.
Jammall Clark (Sr., 6-6, 220, F, Redlands, CA/Redlands East Valley) – Dominican – averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Penguins…tied for 12th in scoring and tied for eighth in rebounding in the PacWest for the week…ranked eighth in shooting (68.8%) after making 11 of 16 shots from the field…made 11 of 13 (84.6%) attempts from the line (left photo).
Trevon Clayton (So., 6-5, 200, F, Orlando, FL/Ocoee) – Fresno Pacific – totaled 21 points, nine rebounds, an assist and a steal – without committing a turnover – during a 116-80 win at Art U on Feb. 16…marked the lone game of the week for the Sunbirds…shot 75.0% (6 for 8) from the floor and 87.5% (7 for 8) from the line…tied for 14th in foul shooting and tied for fourth in field goal percentage for the week in the PacWest…made 2 of 3 (66.7%) attempts from three-point range…tied for second in three-point field goal percentage for the week in the PacWest.
Antonio Credit (Sr., 6-7, 220, F/C, Flint, MI/West Bloomfield) – Fresno Pacific – posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 116-80 win at Art U on Feb. 16 – the lone game of the week for the Sunbirds…shot 60.0% (3 for 5) from the floor and 83.3% (5 for 6) from the line…tied for 15th in shooting for the week in the PacWest.
Tyler Fry (Jr., 6-3, NA, G, Yuba, CA/Yuba City) – Holy Names – scored 20 points and recorded eight steals in 93-68 loss vs. Dixie State – lone game of the week for the Hawks.
Bracken Funk (Jr., 6-7, 240, F, Highland, UT/Lone Peak) – BYU-Hawaii – led Seasiders to a 2-0 week by averaging 12.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 13.0 points per game…led the PacWest in rebounding for the week…tied for 11th in assist average…shot 58.8% (10 for 17) from the floor…shot 85.7% (6 for 7) from the line.
Malcolm Griffin (Jr., 6-4, 210, G/F, Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy) – Fresno Pacific – posted a triple-double with 11 assists, 10 rebounds and 13 points in 116-80 victory at Academy of Art on Feb. 16 – lone game of the week for the Sunbirds…also had two steals.
Dalton Groskreutz (Jr., 6-5, 195, F, Santa Clara, UT/Snow Canyon) – Dixie State – led Red Storm to 2-1 week by averaging 15.3 points per game…ranked 16th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…shot 53.1% (17 for 32) from the field…also shot 84.6% (11 for 13) from the line.
De'Andre Haskins (Sr., 6-4, 205, G, Long Beach, CA/Jordan) – Chaminade – led Silverswords to a 2-0 week by averaging 20.5 points and shooting 61.5% (16 for 26) from the field…ranked 12th in field goal percentage and fifth in scoring in the PacWest for the week.
Killian Larson (Jr., 6-9, 270, C, Puyallup, WA/Puyallup) – Grand Canyon – led Antelopes to a 3-0 week by averaging 16.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game…ranked 14th in scoring and sixth in rebounding in the PacWest for the week…shot 86.4% (19 for 22) at the line.
Troy Leaf (So., 6-3, 195, G, San Diego, CA/Foothills Christian) – Azusa Pacific – scored 17 points in 65-53 win at HPU on Feb. 16 – the lone game of the week for the Cougars…also had four assists and three rebounds in the win.
Joshua Lowery (Sr., 6-3, 200, G, Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) – Grand Canyon – led Antelopes to a 3-0 week by averaging 14.7 points per game and shooting 73.3% (11 for 15) from the field…ranked sixth in shooting and 17th in scoring in the PacWest for the week…shot 60.0% (3 for 5) from beyond the arc…tied for eighth in three-point shooting for the week…shot 86.4% (19 for 22) at the line – posting identical numbers as teammate Killian Larson.
Ameer Shamsud-din (Sr., 6-2, 200, G, Portland, OR/Benson) - Academy of Art – averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 assists per game despite a 0-2 week for Art U…tied for eighth in scoring and tied for fourth in helping for the week in the PacWest.
John Taylor (Jr., 6-1, 175, G, Chicago, IL/North Lawndale) – Fresno Pacific – led Sunbirds to a 116-80 win at Academy of Art on Feb. 16 – their lone game of the week…tied a PacWest single-game record with 44 points (set by William Overton, Jr., of Art U vs. Menlo on Dec. 4, 2010)…shot 50.0% (11 for 22) from the floor and 57.1% (4 for 7) from three-point land…ranked 13th in three-point shooting for the week…also shot 90.0% (18 for 20) from the line (right photo).
