BYU-Hawaii’s Medlock chosen PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of Week for Nov. 12-18

DeAndre Medlock PHOENIX, Ariz. – BYU-Hawaii junior center DeAndre Medlock (Fresno, CA/West Clovis) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

The conference announced the honor on Sunday, Nov. 25, for games played Nov. 12-18.

Although it is extremely rare for a player from a team that had a 0-3 week to earn the award, Medlock was outstanding in averaging 19.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He ranked seventh in scoring and 15th in rebounding for the week in the PacWest.

Medlock also shot 63.2% from the field, hitting 24 of his 38 field goal attempts.

The Seasiders faced three of the toughest teams in the NCAA II West Region, including reigning Division II National Champion Western Washington, West Region Runner-Up Seattle Pacific, and Central Washington.

Andrew Fisk (Sr., 6-5, 215, F, Riverside, CA/Ramona) – California Baptist – scored 28 points in an 83-47 win vs. UC Merced on Nov. 17 – the lone game of the week for the Lancers…hit 12 of 15 (80.0%) attempts from the field…ranked seventh in shooting for the week in the PacWest…also pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked four shots…went 4 for 5 (80.0%) from the line.

Bracken Funk (Jr., 6-7, 240, F, Highland, UT/Lone Peak) – BYU-Hawaii – averaged 12.0 points and 6.7 rebounds during a 1-2 week for the Seasiders…shot 64.0% (16 for 25) from the field.

Dalton Groskreutz Malcolm Griffin (Jr., 6-4, 210, G/F, Chicago, IL/Hyde Park Academy) – Fresno Pacific – scored 19 points and four steals in an 81-70 win vs. UC Merced on Nov. 12 – the lone game of the week for the Sunbirds…shot 58.3% (7 for 12) from the from the field and was 2 for 2 (50.0%) from the line.

Dalton Groskreutz (Jr., 6-5, 195, F, Santa Clara, UT/Snow Canyon) – Dixie State – scored 19 points and collected six rebounds in a 90-77 win vs. Montana State Billings on Nov. 16 – the lone game of the week for the Red Storm…shot 72.7% (8 for 11) from the floor to rank 12th in field goal percentage in the PacWest for the week (Right Photo).

Connor Haysbert (Jr., 6-8, 230, C, Sacramento, CA/Center) – Dominican – averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game during a 1-1 week for the Penguins…shot 60.9% (14 for 23) from the field…tied for fifth in rebounding and tied for 14th in scoring for the week in the PacWest…was perfect from the line (4 for 4).

Killian Larson (Jr., 6-9, 270, C, Puyallup, WA/Puyallup) – Grand Canyon – averaged 10.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Antelopes that included a 65-52 win at UC San Diego on Nov. 17.

Steven Larson (Jr., 6-8, 240, F/C, South Jordan, UT/Copper Hills) – Dixie State – scored 25 points in a 90-77 win vs. Montana State Billings on Nov. 16 – the lone game of the week for the Red Storm…set a PacWest record for field goal percentage in a game by going 11 for 11 from the field…the 11 buckets in 11 attempts was the most by a single player in reaching the 100.0% shooting rate in a single game…also went 3 for 4 (75.0%) from the line.

Troy Leaf (So., 6-3, 195, G, San Diego, CA/Foothills Christian) – Azusa Pacific – scored 29 points in a 97-75 win over Northwest Nazarene on Nov. 16 – the lone game of the week for the Cougars…hit 5 of 7 three-point (71.4%) attempts and was 11 for 14 (78.6%) from the field…ranked eighth in shooting and in three-point field goal percentage for the week in the PacWest…also had five assists.

Joshua Lowery (Sr., 6-3, 200, G, Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) – Grand Canyon – averaged 15.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Antelopes that included a 65-52 win at UC San Diego on Nov. 17…shot 77.8% (14 for 18) from the line.

Rodrigo Maza (Jr., 6-10, 210, F/C, Dijon, France) - Academy of Art – totaled 14 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots in a 77-75 win vs. Cal State East Bay on Nov. 17 – the lone game of the week for the Urban Knights.

B.J. Porter (Sr., 6-3, 190, G, Layton, UT/Layton Christian Academy) – Azusa Pacific – scored 23 points in a 97-75 win over Northwest Nazarene on Nov. 16 – the lone game of the week for the Cougars…hit 5 of 8 three-point (62.5%) attempts and was 7 for 10 (70.0%) from the field…ranked 14th in shooting and 12th in three-point field goal percentage for the week in the PacWest…also had six assists.

Christopher Schwartz-Edmisten (Fr., 6-3, 185, G, Sacramento, CA/Sacramento Waldorf) – Dominican – averaged 21.5 points during a 1-1 week for the Penguins…shot 81.0% (17 for 21) from the line…averaged 2.0 three-pointers made per game…ranked sixth in scoring for the week in the PacWest.
