UHH’s Michael Melonas earns final PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of Week for 2012

Michael Melonas PHOENIX, Ariz. – Hawai'i Hilo senior forward Michael Melonas (Ventura, CA/Ventura) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

The conference announced the award on Monday, Dec. 31, for games played Dec. 24-30.

Melonas amassed 26 points and 13 rebound in a 116-54 dismantling of Champion Baptist on Dec. 29 – the lone game of the week for the Vulcans.

Melonas shot 57.1% (12 for 21) from the floor, was 2 for 2 at the line, doled out four assists to teammates, and registered a trio of steals – all in 25 minutes of action.

Kevin Crabb (Jr., 6-8, 225, C, Granite Bay, CA/Roseville) – California Baptist – totaled 17 points, 10 rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes of action off the bench during an 85-70 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Dec. 29 – the lone game of the week for the Lancers…made 7 of 8 (87.5%) attempts from the field and was 3 for 3 from the free throw line…did not commit a turnover.

Micah Dunhour (So., 6-5, 190, G, Honolulu, HI/Academy of the Pacific) – Notre Dame de Namur – scored 23 points and pulled down five rebounds in lone game of the week – an 85-78 win at Menlo on Dec. 29…went 7 for 8 (87.5%) from the field and from the line…also made 2 of 3 (66.7%) attempts from beyond the arc.

Tyler Fry (Jr., 6-3, NA, G, Yuba, CA/Yuba City) – Holy Names – scored 22 points while shooting 70.0% (7 for 10) from beyond the arc during a 65-49 loss vs. Cal State Los Angeles on Dec. 29 – the lone game of the week for the Hawks…also shot 63.6% (7 for 11) from the floor…contributed four rebounds, an assist and five steals in the contest.

Devin Golston (Jr., 6-6, 200, F, Cerritos, CA/Gahr) – Dominican – scored 14 points while shooting 75.0% (3 for 4) from three-point range in 93-76 loss at Division I San Francisco on Dec. 29 – the lone game of the week for the Penguins…had a rebound and a block as well…played 21 minutes off the bench.

Olivand Lundestad Killian Larson (Jr., 6-9, 270, C, Puyallup, WA/Puyallup) – Grand Canyon – posted a double-double in GCU's 82-69 victory vs. Northern New Mexico on Dec. 29 – the lone game of the week for the Antelopes…scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and shot 88.8% (8 for 9) from the field in the win…made 7 of 8 (87.5%) attempts from the line…also had an assist and two steals.
