Dixie State, Grand Canyon and Chaminade grab key slots in the NCAA II West Region poll
INDIANAPOLIS – A trio of Pacific West Conference men’s basketball teams are listed among the Top 10 in the NCAA Division II West Region Ranking.
Dixie State (17-5/16-4 West Region), Grand Canyon (18-5/18-3) and Chaminde (14-5/14-4) are ranked fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively. The team’s records are reflected through games of Sunday, Feb. 17.
The NCAA unveiled the regional rankings for the eight regions around the nation on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from its headquarters in Indianapolis.
The Top 8 teams in each region will comprise the 64-team NCAA II Men’s Basketball National Championship field. The tournament seletion show will be held on Sunday, March 10.
The PacWest will crown its first tournament champion March 9 following a three-day, six-team event that will be held at Azusa Pacific University starting March 7. The winner will receive the automatic berth to the NCAA II National Championship Tournament.
While Dixie State, GCU and Chaminade are the leading candidates from the PacWest to receive at-large bids to the NCAA II Championship, the inaugural PacWest Tournament could produce an automatic qualifier from any team in the field.
The regional rankings will continue each Wednesday for the next two weeks before the selection show on March 10.
