17 players, 4 teams shoot par or better in opening round of 2011 PacWest Championship
ST. GEORGE, UT – Seventeen players and four teams
shot par or better in the opening round of the 2011 Hawaiian
Airlines Pacific West Conference Championship on Monday morning,
April 18, in St. George, UT.
The PacWest Championship is being held at the Sunbrook Golf Club on its Par 72, 6875-yard course. Round two of the 54-hole tournament is being held on Monday afternoon, while the final 18 holes will be contested on Tuesday, April 19, starting at 7:30 a.m. MDT.
Hawaii Hilo currently stands in first place with a three-under-par team score of 285, while Hawaii Pacific and Grand Canyon are tied for second with a pair of one-under-par scores of 287. Dixie State is fourth with a 288 after firing an even par.
BYU-Hawaii and Notre Dame de Namur are in the mix as well with the Seasiders in fifth after recording a two-over-par 290 and the Argos standing just six strokes off the pace with a three-over-par 291.
Grand Canyon’s Matt Pridey tops the field with a six-under-par 66, while UHH’s Travis Russell and Blake Snyder are tied for second after registering a pair of four-under-par 68s.
Dixie State Kyle Chappell and HPU’s Ian Boat are tied for fourth at 69 – good enough for three-under-par – while HPU’s Ale Radice-Fossati and Dixie State’s Chad Crowther are tied for sixth with rounds of 70. Each finished two under par.
Three players recorded a one-under-par 71 during the opening round – Doug Bischoff and Skylar Schone of BYU-Hawaii, and Jacob Golembiewski of Grand Canyon. All three are tied for eighth entering the second round.
