Hawaii Hilo holds four-stroke lead in chase for 2011 Hawaiian Airlines PacWest Championship

ST. GEORGE, UT – Hawaii Hilo holds a four-stroke advantage over Dixie State in the chase for the 2011 Hawaiian Airlines Pacific West Conference Championship after 36 holes of action in St. George, UT.

The PacWest Championship is being held April 18-19 at the Sunbrook Golf Club on its Par 72, 6875-yard course. The nine conference teams have completed 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament that will wrap up the two-day event on Tuesday, April 19, starting at 7:30 a.m. MDT.

The Vulcans have a two-over-par 578 score after two rounds and lead the Red Storm by just four strokes. Dixie State has totaled a 582 and is six strokes over par for the tourney.

BYU-Hawaii and Notre Dame de Namur finished the morning round tied for fifth, but both moved up in the afternoon with the Seasiders taking over fourth place and NDNU grabbing fifth.

BYU-Hawaii has a 585 and trails UHH by seven strokes, while the Argos have compiled a 589 and are just 11 strokes back. Grand Canyon (590) and Hawaii Pacific (603) completed the first 18 holes tied for second, but the two squads slipped to fifth and sixth, respectively.

UHH’s Blake Snyder tops the field with a six-under-par 138, while Grand Canyon’s Matt Pridey is in second with a two-under-par 142.

HPU’s Ale Radice-Fossati and Skylar Schone of BYU-Hawaii are deadlocked at third with identical 143 scores. Both are one under par. Dixie State Kyle Chappell is at even par with a 144 and stands in fifth place.
