UHH 6th, Dixie St. 8th, GCU 9th after round two of NCAA II Central/West Regional
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Hawai‘i
Hilo jumped to sixth, while Dixie
State slipped to eighth and Grand
Canyon dropped a notch to ninth following
Tuesday’s second round of the NCAA Division II Central/West
Men’s Golf Regional in Albuquerque, N.M.
The three-day, 54-hole regional is being held May 2-4 at The Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico. Golfers are playing on the Par 72, 7324-yard course.
The Vulcans are five over par with a team score of 581, while the Red Storm is 10 over par with a 586. Grand Canyon is one stroke behind Dixie State with a 587.
Individually, Dixie State’s Chad Crowther is the top PacWest player through two rounds. He has turned in a three-under-par 141 and is tied for sixth.
Travis Russell of Hawai‘i Hilo is ranked second among PacWest entries and is tied for 11th with a two-under-par 142, while Grand Canyon’s Matt Pridey and Mark Geddes are tied for 15th with one-under-par totals of 143.
The top five teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from the regional will advance to the national finals May 16-20 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Florence, Ala.
The NCAA Division II National Championship will be hosted by the University of North Alabama.
