Lopes remain tied for 4th at NCAA Championships

HOUSTON, TX - Grand Canyon University men's golf team remained tied for fourth at the NCAA Division II Championships at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston after Thursday's second round.

The Antelopes shot 285 Thursday to move to 7-over 567 at the four-day championship event. Georgia College & State University leads the tournament at 1-under 559. University of Indianapolis is second at 4-over 564, and Clayton State University is third at 566. GCU is tied with the University of West Florida and Colorado-Colorado Springs.

GCU senior Donald Zaruba III (Longmont, Colo.) shot 2-over 72 in the second round, and is even (140) for the tournament. Zaruba had two bogeys and no birdies in the second round. He is three strokes off the lead. Sophomore Terence Daniels (Scottsdale Desert Mountain) shot 1-over 71, and is tied for 19th at 1-over 141. Daniels had three birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey.

Sophomore Bentley Nakasawa (Yuma) shot par, and sits at 3-over 143. Nakasawa had four birdies and four bogeys. Senior Brett Beaty (Tucson Sabino) shot 2-over 72, moving to 5-over 145. Beaty had one birdie and three bogeys. Junior Ryan Sperry (photo) is 9-over following a second round 78. Sperry had six bogeys and one double bogey.

Florida Southern's Jude Eustaquio and West Florida's Kyle Scott are tied for the lead at 3-under 137.
