HPU's Chance Bukoski turns hat-trick into Player of Week award
Chance Bukoski named PacWest Player of Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific sophomore forward Chance Bukoski (Lihue, HI/Kapaa) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 28, for games played Sept. 21-27.
Bukoski produced a hat-trick vs. BYU-Hawaii on Sept. 21 in a 4-0 Sea Warrior victory. He finished the game - and the week - with six points on three goals, including a game-winner.
HPU posted a 2-0 week in conference play after beating Chaminade on Sept. 26.

Evan Cordova - Dominican (CA) (Fr., 5-11, n/a, F, Westminster, CA/Marina)...recorded three points on a goal and an assist in two victories for the Penguins...scored game's first goal on Sept. 26 in a 3-2 victory over Dixie State...assisted on game-winning goal on Sept. 21 in 1-0 win over Academy of Art.
Pedro Guevara - Dominican (CA) (So., 5-5, n/a, M, Santa Rosa, CA/Montgomery)...scored the game-winning goal at 61:32 giving the Penguins a 3-2 victory over Dixie State on Sept. 26...it marked the first PacWest men's soccer victory in school history.
Shaine Huiberts - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 6-0, n/a, F, San Juan Capistrano, CA/Dana Hills)...posted three points on a goal and an assist over two games during the week...tallied game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Academy of Art on Sept. 21...assisted on Rafael Garcia's goal that put Dominican ahead 2-0 over Dixie State on Sept. 26...Dominican won the game 3-2.
Kainoa Kahui - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 6-0, 185, D, Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha Schools)...led the Sea Warriors to a 3-1 victory over Chaminade on Sept. 26 after scoring two goals...tallied game's first score, then broke a 1-1 tie with the game-winner...finished the week with four points on two goals.
Kimo Komomua (right) - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-8, 145, M,
Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha Schools)...posted three
points in two games for the Sea Warriors during the week...helped
HPU to a pair of PacWest victories...recorded an assist vs.
BYU-Hawaii on Sept. 21 in a 4-0 victory...tallied the insurance
goal in a 3-1 win over Chaminade on Sept. 26.
Juan Mendez - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-8, 165, M/F, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon)...punched in game-winning goal at 95:18 to give Grand Canyon a 2-1 overtime victory at Academy of Art on Sept. 26...contest was the lone game of the week for the Antelopes.
Cristobal Montes - Notre Dame de Namur (So., 5-9, 150, F, Fremont, CA/John F. Kennedy)... scored game-winning goal on a penalty kick vs. Academy of Art on Sept. 24...goal gave the Argos a 1-0 PacWest road victory...goal came at 74:18.
Nick Sykes - Grand Canyon (So., 6-0, 185, D/F, Boise, ID/Mountain View)...tallied an unassisted goal at 84:52 to force overtime between Academy of Art and Grand Canyon on Sept. 26...Antelopes scored the game-winner just over 10 minutes later in overtime, taking the contest 2-1.
Ryan Wurz - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 6-1, 175, GK, Spokane, WA/Central Valley)...posted a 2-0-0 week with wins over BYU-Hawaii on Sept. 21 and Chaminade on Sept. 26...registered nine saves and a .900 save percentage over the two games...recorded a 0.50 goals against average in 180 minutes of action...shut out BYU-Hawaii.
