Kyle Ciliento earns another PacWest weekly award

GCU's Kyle Ciliento earns PacWest Player of the Week honor - again

PHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon rookie forward Kyle Ciliento (Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 21, for games played Sept. 14-20.

Ciliento was outstanding in two games for the Antelopes last week. He scored the game-winning goal and added an assist for a three-point afternoon during a 4-0 blitz of Western Washington on Sept. 15. Five days later in the PacWest opener, Ciliento punched in the game-winner vs. Dixie State as the Antelopes secured a 1-0 victory.

Rafael Garcia - Dominican (CA) (So., 5-8, N/A, F, Westlake Village, CA/Oaks Christian)...scored lone goal of the week for the Penguins in a 1-0 non-league victory over Menlo (CA) on Sept. 16.

Daniel Higa - Academy of Art (Fr., 5-6, 134, F, Honolulu, HI/Kalani)...scored two goals coming off the bench in a tough 3-2 overtime loss vs. NDNU on Sept. 19...twice tied the game for AAU...scored second goal with less than five minutes left in regulation to force overtime... finished the game with four points.

George Ichimaru (left) - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-7, 150, M, Volcano, HI/Waiakea)...scored the game-winning goal for the Vulcans in 3-1 victory over Hawai‘i Pacific on Sept. 19.

Parker Kennah - Dixie State (So., 5-11, 160, M, Layton, UT/Northridge)...converted a penalty kick opportunity into game-tying goal vs. Adams State on Sept. 14...scored goal just over a minute into the second half...game ended in a 1-1 twin-overtime draw.

I van Mercado - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-7, 170, GK, Paramount, CA/Century)...recorded 11 saves - seven in each half - in a 3-1 victory over Hawai‘i Pacific on Sept. 19...faced a total of 12 shots on goal...produced a .916 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average for the week...under relentless pressure in net...Vulcans managed just five shots on goal but scored on three attempts.

Logan Montenegro - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-8, 170, F/M, Whittier, CA/Santa Fe)...started the Vulcan scoring vs. HPU with a goal at 32:29 that gave UHH a 1-0 lead...the Vulcans eventually won 3-1.

Cristobal Montes (right) - Notre Dame de Namur (So., 5-9, 150, F, Fremont, CA/John F. Kennedy)...slammed home game-winning goal on a penalty kick in overtime to give NDNU a 3-2 PacWest victory...also assisted on Argos second goal...finished the game with three points on a goal and an assist.

Ben Paneccasio - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-3, 183, GK, Sydney, Australia/Rosenban K College)...posted a 2-0-0 record for the week with a 0.00 goals against average...recorded one shutout and made three saves in 165:26 of action...recorded a perfect 1.000 save percentage...earned victories over Western Washington and conference foe Dixie State.

Nick Sykes - Grand Canyon (So., 6-0, 185, D/F, Boise, ID/Mountain View)...headed in the insurance goal for Grand Canyon during a 4-0 victory over Western Washington on Sept. 15...redirection came off a corner and lifted the Antelopes to a 2-0 lead against the key regional rival.

Chris Wood (left) - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-10, 155, F, Boise, ID/Trabuco Hills, CA)...tallied the game-winning goal at 59:19 as the Seasiders nipped Chaminade 2-1 on Sept. 19...it marked his fourth goal of the year.
