NDNU rookie forward Armando Garcia picked as PacWest Men’s Soccer Player of the Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Notre Dame de Namur rookie forward
Armando Garcia (Redwood City, CA/Sequoia)
has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men’s Soccer
Player of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 25, for games played Oct. 18-24.
Garcia led the Argos to a 2-0-1 week by scoring three goals and totaling six points on NDNU’s Hawaiian road trip.
The Argos blanked Hawai‘i Pacific 2-0 on Oct. 20 and BYU-Hawaii 3-0 on Oct. 23, while on Oct. 18 NDNU played Hawai‘i Hilo to a 0-0 double-overtime draw.
Garcia scored both goals in the win over HPU, tallying the game-winner at 32:14 and the insurance goal early in the second half.
He scored the game’s second goal at BYU-Hawaii at 23:05.

Evan Cordova - Dominican (CA) (So., 5-11, 135, M, Huntington Beach, CA/Marina)...scored a goal and added an assist for three points in a 1-1-1 week for the Penguins...all three road games in Hawai‘i wound up in overtime...scored game-winning goal at 103:59 at Hawai‘i Hilo on Oct. 20 in a 2-1 Dominican victory...assisted on game-tying goal in the 26th minute at Chaminade on Oct. 18 that pull Penguins even at 1-1...teams played to a 2-2 double-overtime tie.
Jesus Gonzalez - Notre Dame de Namur (Fr., 5-8, 145, M, Santa
Barbara, CA/Santa Barbara)...scored an unassisted
goal in the 75th minute of a 3-0 victory over BYU-Hawaii on Oct.
23...road victory wrapped up a 2-0-1 week in Hawai‘i for the
Argos...added an assist in 2-0 win at HPU on Oct. 20...finished
week with three points.
Kainoa Kahui - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 6-0, 185, D, Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha Schools)...scored the game-winning goal at 99:18 vs. Dominican (CA) on Oct. 23 in a 2-1 overtime victory for the Sea Warriors.

Ben Paneccasio - Grand Canyon (Sr., 6-2, 185, GK, Sydney, Australia/Rosebank College)...recorded back-to-back shutouts of Dixie State in a home-and-home set between the two clubs during the week...GCU beat Red Storm 3-0 in St. George on Oct. 18 and blanked Dixie State 2-0 at home on Oct. 23...stopped all seven shots fired at GCU net...had a perfect 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage that led to a 2-0-0 record.
Cordero Young - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-11, 165, M, Orlando, FL/Central Florida Christian Academy)...scored game-winning goal at home vs. Dixie State on Oct. 23 in 2-0 victory...kicked home rebound in 26th minute to put Antelopes ahead 1-0.
