Grand Canyon junior Saeed Robinson collects PacWest Men’s Soccer Player of Week honor
PHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon junior forward
Saeed Robinson (Portmore, Jamaica) has
been chosen the Pacific West Conference Men’s Soccer Player
of the Week.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 3, for games played Sept. 26-Oct. 2.
Robinson led the Antelopes to a 2-0-1 week in Hawai‘i by unleashing an unparalleled offensive outburst.
In three games on Oahu, Robinson amassed 14 points on six goals and two assists. He scored the lone goal in a 1-1 double-overtime draw at BYU-Hawaii on Sept. 26 and tallied both goals in a 2-0 blanking of Hawai‘i Pacific on Sept. 29.
On Oct. 1 at Hawai‘i Hilo, Robinson reeled off eight points on three goals and two assists, tallying two goals and two assists in the first 33:35 of the contest.Robinson finished his four-game Hawai‘i trip with 16 points on seven goals and two assists.
He put together an unusual streak of participating in seven of the nine goals Grand Canyon scored from the 44:43 mark of GCU’s win over Chaminade on Sept. 24 through the 33:35 mark of the Antelopes’ victory vs. Hawai‘i Hilo on Oct. 1.

CA/Katella)...had five points on two goals and an
assist during a 1-1 week...scored back-to-back goals in 65th and
71st minutes to break open a 2-1 game vs. Dominican (CA) on Sept.
26...Lancers won contest 4-1...assisted on the game-winner at
63:29...all five points came in less than eight minutes of
action.
Chance Bukoski - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 6-0, 170, F, Kapaa, HI/Kapaa)...had five points on two goals and an assist in 5-0 win vs. BYU-Hawaii on Oct. 1...credited with game-winner...scored game’s first two goals and assisted on third tally...HPU posted a 1-1 record for the week.
Adam Garcia - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-11, 165, GK, Avondale, AZ/Westview)...posted a 2-0-1 week for the Antelopes in Hawai‘i...recorded a 0.37 goals against average and an .889 save percentage...halted eight of nine shots on goal over 245:00 of action...earned 2-0 shutout win at Hawai‘i Pacific on Sept. 29...forged a 1-1 draw vs. BYU-Hawaii on Sept. 26...played opening half of 9-0 win at Hawai‘i Hilo on Oct. 1.
Arturo Gomez - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-8, 155, M, San Diego, CA/Castle Park)...recorded a natural hat-trick by scoring three consecutive goals in first 51:08 of 8-0 win vs. William Jessup on Oct. 1...staked Argos to 1-0 lead at 3:56...made score 2-0 at 15:35...credited with game-winner in the contest...totaled six points on the three goals in a 2-0 week for NDNU.
Alex Lawhun - Dixie State (Fr., 6-3, 185, D/M, Draper, UT/Alta)...recorded a four-point week on two goals for the Red Storm...scored game-tying goal in the 83rd minute of a 2-2 double-overtime draw with Biola on Sept. 27...tallied game’s first goal in 2-1 win over California Baptist on Oct. 1.
Truls Lystad - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-11, 155, D,
Snaroya)...recorded five points on two goals and an
assist in 5-0 win vs. BYU-Hawaii on Oct. 1...assisted on
game’s second goal to put HPU ahead 2-0...scored at 61:13 and
76:30 to cap off victory...HPU posted a 1-1 week.
David Mendez - Dominican (CA) (So., 6-0, 175, F, Windsor, CA/Windsor)...gave Penguins first victory of 2011 by scoring game-winning goal in 1-0 victory over Chaminade on Sept. 29...buried shot in back of net at 74:38, snapping scoreless tie.
Cristobal Montes - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-9, 150, F, Tijuana, Mexico/John F. Kennedy)...scored three second-half goals in 8-0 win vs. William Jessup on Oct. 1...last goal came on penalty kick...finished week with seven points on three goals and an assist...earned assist in 3-0 win vs. Chaminade on Sept. 27.
Ian Sutherland - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-11, 165, GK, Honolulu, HI/Assets)...repelled all five shots on net in 3-0 blanking of Chaminade on Oct. 1...lone match of the week for the Urban Knights.
Oscar Yniguez - Notre Dame de Namur (Sr., 5-7, 130, M, Redwood City, CA/Woodside)...led Argos to 3-0 victory over Chaminade on Sept. 27 by participating in all three goals...assisted on game’s first two scores giving NDNU 2-0 first-half lead...added insurance goal in second half...finished week with five points on goal and three assists...added third assist in 8-0 win vs. William Jessup on Oct. 1...NDNU posted a 2-0-0 record during the week.
