Grand Canyon, HPU await NCAA II Men’s Soccer Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 7

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Selection Show will be broadcast on Monday, Nov. 7, live from Indianapolis at 5 p.m. MST (4 p.m. PST/2 p.m. HT).

The 2011 NCAA II Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament will consist of 32 teams spread across eight regions with four teams competing in each region. Unlike women’s soccer, there are no automatic qualifiers in NCAA Division II men’s soccer.

Grand Canyon and Hawai‘i Pacific are the leading candidates for possible post-season berths from the PacWest. GCU was ranked fourth in the most recent NCAA II West Region Poll on Nov. 2 and finished the year with a 13-4-1 overall mark and 9-2-1 record in the PacWest. The Antelopes placed third in the conference this season with 28 points.

HPU ended the 2011 campaign as co-champions of the PacWest, sharing the title with California Baptist. The Sea Warriors are 14-4 overall and 10-2 in the conference, ending the season with 30 points and their first conference title in men’s soccer.

The Sea Warriors were ranked eighth in the NCAA II West Region Poll that was released on Nov. 2.
