Hawai‘i Hilo’s Rayden Bala named PacWest Men’s Soccer Player of Week

Rayden Bala PHOENIX, Ariz. – Hawai'i Hilo junior forward Rayden Bala (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) has been selected the final Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for 2012.

The conference announced the honor on Monday, Nov. 5, for games contested Oct. 29-Nov. 4.

Bala totaled nine points on four goals and an assist during a 2-0-0 week for the Vulcans.

He scored a goal at 28:56 to put the Vulcans ahead of Holy Names 2-0 on Oct. 30, and then assisted on what would prove to be the game-winner at 76:34. UHH won the contest 3-2.

Against Academy of Art on Nov. 3 in the season finale, Bala unleashed a hat-trick over a 16:09 span in the second half to push the Vulcans to a 5-1 win.

He scored the game's third goal at 72:18, then tallied back-to-back goals just :18 apart at 88:09 and 88:27 to secure the victory for UHH.

Pedro Guevara (Sr., 5-5, 145, M, Santa Rosa, CA/Montgomery) - Dominican – scored game-winning goal in a 2-1 win vs. PLNU on Nov. 3.

Philip Sakaba (Jr., 5-8, 130, M, Mililani, HI/Mililani) – Hawai'i Hilo – recorded an assist hat-trick in 5-1 win over Art U on Nov. 3…finished game and week with three points…assisted on game-winner at 52:09…assisted on both of Rayden Bala's back-to-back goals that occurred just :18 apart….finished with a three-point game.

Paul Islas Daniel Haehre (So., 5-9, 155, F, Bekkestua, Norway) – Hawai'i Pacific – totaled four points on two goals in a 2-0-0 week for the Sea Warriors…scored both goals, including the game-winner in overtime at 101:12, in a 2-1 victory vs. Art U on Nov. 1…tied game 1-1 at 39:55.
