Dominican’s Kolby Mitnick named PacWest Men’s Soccer Player of Week

Kolby Mitnick PHOENIX, Ariz. – Dominican sophomore forward Kolby Mitnick (Newcastle, CA/Del Oro) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week.

The conference announced the honor on Monday, Oct. 29, for games contested Oct. 22-28.

Mitnick totaled seven points during a 1-0-1 week for the Penguins. He scored two goals and added an assist in a 5-2 win at Chaminade on Oct. 26, finishing the game with five points.

He was credited with the game-winner and helped rally the Penguins from an early 2-0 deficit by scoring goals in the 33rd and 60th minutes.

Mitnick also led the Penguins to comeback tie at Hawai‘i Pacific on Oct. 28 by scoring the game-tying goal in the 61st minute to forge a 2-2 double-overtime draw.

Like the Chaminade contest, the Penguins trailed 2-0 but rallied to pick up a point in the standings.

Jonathan Gonzalez (Jr., 6-2, 180, F, Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) - Notre Dame de Namur – recorded a hat-trick and totaled six points in a 3-2 double-overtime win at Academy of Art on Oct. 26…scored in 50th, 65th and 106th minutes.

Aaron Sanchez (Jr., 5-10, 160, M, South Gate, CA/South Gate) – Hawai‘i Hilo – posted five points on two goals and an assist during a 4-1 win vs. HPU on Oct. 22...scored game’s first goal at 5:14…helped UHH take a 3-0 lead with an assist at 68:03…put Vulcans up 4-0 at 70:48 with second goal of the game.
