BYU-Hawaii's Deavila earns weekly award

PHOENIX, AZ - BYU-Hawaii junior Spencer Deavila (Mesa, AZ/Highland) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 28, for races contested on Sept. 26.

Deavila captured the 2009 Chaminade Invitational held in Honolulu on Sept. 26, completing the course in a time of 26:26.

PacWest Men's Cross Country Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll

Stefano Barbis Rochabrun (right) - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-10, Hilo, HI/Hilo)...placed fourth overall and first among Vulcan runners at the 2009 Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...led UHH to a third-place finish...covered the course in a time of 27:01.

Jon Cleghorn - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 6-2, 165, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada/Fredericton)...slipped into the Top 10 of the Chaminade Invitational by taking ninth place overall with a time of 27:29...crossed the finish line third among Sea Warrior competitors.

Flemming Eriksen - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-10, 150, Honolulu, HI/Kaiser)...finished third overall and second among HPU entries at the Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...posted a time of 26:55.

Luke Graesser (left) - BYU-Hawaii (So., 6-1, 154, Spokane, WA/North Central)...took second place among BYU-Hawaii entries and fifth overall at the 2009 Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...completed the course in a time of 27:04.

Brandon Krout - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-11, 175, Vancouver, WA/Prarie)...recorded a time of 27:22 at the Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...placed eighth overall and fourth among Seasider runners.

Dany Malley - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-7, 140, Mississaugua, Ontario, Canada/Lorne Park Secondary)...placed second at the Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...finished the race in a time of 26:33...top runner among Sea Warriors.

Amos Maru (right) - Academy of Art (So., 5-9, 130, Nandi Hills, Kenya)...finished 16th overall at the predominantly Division I Stanford Invitational on Sept. 26...finished first among AAU runners...posted a time of 24:44 on the 8K course.

Garrett McAllister - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-0, N/A, Los Alamitos, CA/Los Alamitos)...ranked second among Vulcan runners and sixth overall at the 2009 Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...recorded a time of 27:04.

Brendan McMaster - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-11, 145, Tempe, AZ/Corona Del Sol)...finished seventh overall and third among BYU-Hawaii runners at the 2009 Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...recorded a time of 27:17.

Kevin Wright - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-9, 130, Mississaugua, Ontario, Canada/Lorne Park Secondary)...finished 10th overall and fifth among Sea Warrior runners at the 2009 Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 26...clocked in with a time of 27:54.
