Art U's Amos Maru repeats as PacWest Mens XC Runner of the Week
PHOENIX, AZ - Academy of Art junior Amos Maru
(Nandi Hills, Kenya) has been chosen the Pacific West
Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the
second consecutive time this season.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 13, for races contested on Sept. 11.
Maru finished third in a field consisting of predominantly Division I runners at the 2010 Sacrament State Hornet Jamboree.
He posted a time of 20:13 on the four-mile course, finishing just 20 seconds behind the winner. He helped lead his team to a fifth-place finish.

Vincente Herrera - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 6-3, 170, Manteca, CA/Manteca)...finished 14th overall and third among all Seasider runners at the BYU-Hawaii Invitational...finished the 8K race in a time of 27:38.
Anders Ludvigsen - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-10, 130, Odense, Denmark/Tietgen Business College)...finished seventh at the 2010 BYU-Hawaii Invitational on Sept. 11...posted a time of 26:47...ranked first among all HPU entries.
Daveson Marindich - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-9, 120, Eldoret, Kenya)...placed 11th among four-year competitors at the Sacramento State Hornet Jamboree...ran the four-mile course in 20:30...earned place on Top 10 for the second straight week...helped team to a fifth-place finish.
Kip Mutai - Grand Canyon (Jr., Bomet,
Kenya/Kabusare)...finished first among Grand Canyon
runners and 14th overall at the 2010 UC Irvine Collegiate &
Open 8K in Irvine, CA, on Sept. 11...covered the distance in a time
of 25:37.5.
Justin Royer - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-8, 140, Mesa, AZ/Westwood)...finished ninth overall, second among all Seasider runners, and third among PacWest entries at the BYU-Hawaii Invitational... finished the 8K race in a time of 27:06.
Keoni Ucker - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-3, NA, Pahoa, HI/Christian Liberty Academy)...recorded a time of 27:23 during the 8K BYU-Hawaii Invitational on Sept. 11...finished 12th overall and first among Vulcan entries.
