Academy of Art junior Amos Maru selected PacWest Men’s XC Runner of Week

Amos Maru PHOENIX, AZ - Academy of Art junior Amos Maru (Nandi Hills, Kenya) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third time this season.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 11, for races contested Oct. 8-9.

Maru captured the 2010 San Francisco State Invitational at Golden Gate Park by posting a winning time of 24:56 on the 8K course.

He outdistanced teammate Daveson Marindich by six seconds and led the Urban Knights to a fourth-place team finish.

Jon Cleghorn - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 6-0, 155, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada/Fredericton)...finished second among Sea Warriors and fifth overall at the 2010 University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Invitational on Oct. 9...recorded a time of 21:17 on the four-mile course...helped HPU to a second-place finish.

Luke Graesser - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 6-0, 155, Spokane, WA/North Central)...posted a time of 21:24 to finish sixth at the 2010 University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Invitational on Oct. 9...wound up third among Seasider runners and helped BYU-Hawaii to a first-place team finish.

Dany Malley - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-10, 130, Mississaugua, Ontario, Canada/Lorne Park Secondary)...finished first among Sea Warriors and fourth overall at the 2010 University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Invitational on Oct. 9...recorded a time of 21:16 on the four-mile course...led HPU to a second-place finish.

Dany Malley Daveson Marindich - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-9, 120, Eldoret, Kenya)...finished second overall and runner-up to teammate Amos Maru at the 2010 San Francisco State Invitational at Golden Gate Park on Oct. 8...posted a time of 25:02 on the 8K course...finished six seconds behind Maru...helped lead Urban Knights to a fourth-place finish.

Kip Mutai - Grand Canyon (Jr., Bomet, Kenya/Kabusare)...captured the 2010 Grand Canyon University Invitational on Oct. 9 in Phoenix...posted a time of 25:08.52 on the 8K course...outdistanced three Division I runners from Northern Arizona University who finished second, third and fourth...led Antelopes to top team score among four-year schools at the event.

Ryan Nunez - NDNU (Sr., 6-1, 155, El Sobrante, CA/Salesian)...finished first among Argonaut runners and 53rd overall at the 2010 San Francisco State Invitational at Golden Gate Park on Oct. 8...recorded a time of 28:04 on the 8K course.

Keoni Ucker Thomas Rivers Puzey - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 6-0, 160, Hermiston, OR/Hermiston)...captured the 2010 University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Invitational on Oct. 9...covered the four-mile course in 20:49...led BYU-Hawaii to a first-place team finish.
