Art U's Amos Maru earns PacWest Runner of the Week honors
PHOENIX, AZ - Academy of Art junior Amos Maru
(Nandi Hills, Kenya) has been chosen the first
Pacific West Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the
Week of 2010.
The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Tuesday, Sept. 7, for races contested Sept. 4.
Maru finished fourth for the second straight year at the University of San Francisco Invitational on Sept. 4.
He posted a time of 25:04.00 in the 8K race, faster than his 2009 mark of 25:10.20, and was the top finisher among all Urban Knight entries.
PacWest Men’s Cross Country Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll
Paul Bailey - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-9, 140, Los Alamitos, CA/Los Alamitos)... finished 29th among four-year competitors and third among GCU entries at the 2010 George Kyte Classic in Flagstaff, AZ...recorded a time of 31:03.0 on the 8K course.
Mark Bretan - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-6, 135, Novato, CA/Novato)...posted a time of 27:24.00 at the University of San Francisco Invitational on Sept. 4...finished third among Urban Knight runners and 42nd among four-year contestants.
Jon Cleghorn - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 6-0, 155, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada/Fredericton)...finished 10th at the HPU Sand Island 3-Mile Invite on Sept. 4...posted a time of 15:39.65...was second among HPU runners.
Shawn Daut - Academy of Art (Jr., 6-2, 150, Pleasanton, CA/Amador Valley)...finished 47th at the University of San Francisco Invitational on Sept. 4...posted a time of 28:00.00 on the 8K course...placed fourth among Urban Knight runners.
Craig Kandler - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-10, 130, Hawaii Kai, HI/Kaiser)...placed 15th at the HPU Sand Island 3-Mile Invite on Sept. 4...registered a time of 16:44.65...finished third among HPU runners.
Anders Ludvigsen - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-10, 130, Odense, Denmark/Tietgen Business College)...finished sixth at the HPU Sand Island 3-Mile Invite on Sept. 4...posted a time of 15:09.65...was the top runner among Sea Warrior entries.
Dany Malley - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-10, 130, Mississaugua, Ontario, Canada/Lorne Park Secondary)... placed 11th at the HPU Sand Island 3-Mile Invite on Sept. 4...registered a time of 15:46.65...wound up third among Sea Warrior entries.
Daveson Marindich - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-9, 120, Eldoret,
Kenya)...finished 10th at the University of San
Francisco Invitational on Sept. 4 after recording a time of
25:14.00 on the 8K course...time was much faster than his
ninth-place run at the same event during the 2009 campaign
(25:30.20)...placed second among Urban Knight runners.
Kip Mutai - Grand Canyon (Jr., Bomet, Kenya/Kabusare)...finished sixth among all four-year runners and first among Grand Canyon entries at the 2010 George Kyte Classic at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, AZ, on Sept. 4...recorded a time of 27:33.7 on the 8K course.
Julio Zunga - Grand Canyon (So., 5-8, 140, Phoenix, AZ/Trevor G. Browne)...posted a time of 30:22.4 during the 8K George Kyte Classic in Flagstaff, AZ...finished second among GCU competitors and 27th among all runners from four-year schools.
