Azusa Pacific, California Baptist win PacWest XC titles
KAHUKU, Hawai'i – Azusa Pacific captured the women's title and California Baptist repeated as the men's winners as the Pacific West Conference crowned its 2012 cross country champions on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Kahuku Golf Course in Kahuku, Hawai'i.
The PacWest Championships were hosted by Hawai'i Pacific University on Oahu.
In the women's race, Azusa Pacific finished first with 62 points, while California Baptist took second with a score of 74. Grand Canyon took third with an 86.
Academy of Art's Jenny Bergren (18:09.35) captured the women's title, while HPU's Polina Babkina finished second and California Baptist's Jennifer Mallen was third.
The Lancers repeated as the men's champion after CBU totaled 40 points. BYU-Hawaii was second with a 66, while Grand Canyon took third with a 100.
California Baptist's Talal Kahn claimed the men's individual crown with a time of 25:39.10, while Sharles Simon of Grand Canyon was second. Spencer Deavila of BYU-Hawaii placed third.
The men's cross country awards will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The women's awards will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
