Campas, Bridges give Antelopes sweep of PacWest honorsPHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon senior SS Kelli Bridges (Coeur d'Alene, ID/Lake City) and sophomore hurler Ivy Campas (Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside) have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 22, for games contested Feb. 15-21.
Bridges led Antelopes to a 3-1 weekend in the PacWest opener vs. Hawai‘i Hilo by hitting .500 (6 for 12) with eight RBI, two runs scored, two doubles and a home run. She posted a .917 slugging average and a .538 on-base mark.
Campas earned two complete-game wins vs. Hawai‘i Hilo in the opening weekend of the conference.
She struck out 12 in 12 innings of work, earned a 2.25 ERA and permitted a .222 batting average.
Alana Aweau - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-10, IF, L/R, Fairfield,
CA/Armijo)...led Academy of Art to a 3-1 week by
hitting .429 in four starts...was 6 for 14 with three runs scored,
two doubles, one homer and four RBI...walked twice...had a .500
on-base percentage and a .786 slugging mark.
Kori Berinobis - Chaminade (Fr., 5-2, IF/OF, R/R, Kaneohe, HI/Castle)...helped Chaminade to a 2-2 week by hitting .556 in four starts...was 5 for 9 with two runs scored, one RBI and one HBP...stole a base...had a .556 slugging mark and a .600 on-base percentage.
Sierrah Garcia - Academy of Art (So., 5-7, P, L/R, Los Banos, CA/Los Banos)...led the Urban Knights to a 3-1 week by hitting .636 in four starts...went 7 for 11 with five runs scored...posted four RBI and walked three times...had a .636 slugging rate and a .714 on-base percentage...also was outstanding on the mound...registered a 2-0 record in four appearances and two starts...threw one complete game...allowed just five earned runs for a 3.14 ERA...struck out 18 batters.
Sierra Green - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-5, OF, L/R, Longmont, CO/Longmont)...batted .615 in four games for the Vulcans...was 8 for 13 with three runs scored, two doubles, one RBI, one walk and a .643 on-base percentage...also had a .769 slugging rate.
Keli-Grace Kaowili-Saniatan - Chaminade (Sr., 5-1, IF/OF, L/R,
Hauula, HI/Kahuku)...batted .455 in four games for
the Silverswords...was 5 for 11 with three doubles and six
RBI...walked three times...had a .571 on-base percentage and a .727
slugging rate.
Sherise Musquiz - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 6-0, R/R, Pico Rivera, CA/El Rancho)...posted another 2-0 week with a 0.00 ERA...tossed one complete game - a 6-0 shutout vs. Simon Fraser (BC)...also earned win in relief vs. Simon Fraser...allowed just four hits in 7.2 innings of work...struck out six...permitted a .148 batting average.
Mary Ortega - Notre Dame de Namur (Fr., 5-7, P/IF, R/R, San Jose, CA/Piedmont Hills)...earned a 5-4 victory over Dominican (CA) on Feb. 20...struck out six while giving up one earned run on six hits in 5.0 innings of work...posted a 1.80 ERA...also hit .400 by going 4 for 10 with a run, two doubles, two RBI and three walks...dropped a pair of sacrifice bunts and was 3 for 3 in stolen base attempts...had a .600 slugging rate and a .538 on-base percentage.
Michelle Rasmussen - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-6, 1B, L/L, Puyallup,
WA/Emerald Ridge)...helped the Antelopes to a 3-1
start to the PacWest conference schedule vs. Hawai‘i
Hilo...batted .545 after going 6 for 11 in the four games...scored
four runs, drove in five and smacked a double...had a .636 slugging
rate and a .615 on-base mark.
Robyn Ridpath - Dominican (CA) (Jr., 5-7, 3B/U, R/R, Sunnyvale, CA/Wilcox)...hit .571 as Penguins split a pair of games in a PacWest twinbill vs. NDNU on Feb. 20...went 4 for 7 with three runs scored, three doubles, one homer and three RBI...had a 1.429 slugging rate and a .571 on-base mark.
Ciera Senas - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-4, OF, L/R, Wahiawa, HI/Mililani)...batted .625 in a sweep of Simon Fraser (BC) on Feb. 20...was 5 for 8 with two runs scored and a triple...stole a base...had an .875 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base rate.
