Chaminade's Sasaki, AAU's Dauer earn PacWest softball

PHOENIX, AZ – Chaminade senior catcher/designated player Brandi Sasaki (Honolulu, HI/Kaimuki) and Academy of Art sophomore hurler Kimberly Dauer (Los Osos, CA/Morro Bay) have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
The award wa s announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix,
AZ, on Monday, April 19, for games c ontested April 5-11. It marks
the second straight honor for Dauer.
Sasaki helped Chaminade to a 3-1 week by hitting .700 in four starts vs. BYU-Hawaii.
She went 7 for 10 with four runs scored, one double, two homers and eight RBI while posting a stunning 1.400 slugging rate and a solid .769 on-base mark. She also walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
Dauer repeated her honor by posting a 2-0 mark in five appearances and four starts. She tossed two complete games and recorded a save – all while striking out 27 batters in 23.2 innings of work.
She allowed just two earned runs, two walks and four extra-base hits while recording a 0.59 earned run average.

Teddy Barry - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-8, OF, L/R, Phoenix,
AZ/Gateway)...led the Antelopes to a 4-0 week by
hitting .643 in four starts...went 9 for 14 with five runs scored,
four doubles, and four RBI...walked once...went 3 for 3 in stolen
base attempts...had a .929 slugging mark and a .667 on-base rate.
Johnna Brown - Dixie State (Fr., 6-0, SS, R/R, Las Vegas, NV/ Centennial)...hit .636 in four starts by going 7 for 11 with three RBI, one run scored and four doubles...posted a 1.000 slugging mark and a .667 on-base percentage...stole a base and was hit by a pitch.
Ivy Campas - Grand Canyon (So., 5-2, P, R/R, Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside)...posted a 2-0 mark with a 1.50 earned run average in two starts...tossed a pair of complete games over 14.0 innings...struck out nine while allowing three earned runs.
Kaycee Gamez - Grand Canyon (So., 5-7, SS, L/R, Eugene, OR/Sheldon)...hit .500 in four starts during 4-0 weekend sweep of NDNU by the Antelopes...went 7 for 14 with six runs scored, three doubles, two homers and eight RBI...walked once and had a sacrifice fly...registered a 1.143 slugging average and a .500 on-base rate.
Sierrah Garcia - Academy of Art (So., 5-7, P, L/R, Los Banos,
CA/Los Banos)...posted a 3-1 record in four
appearances and two starts...recorded a 0.76 ERA with 23 strikeouts
over 18.1 innings of work...allowed just two earned runs and a .179
batting average...also hit .353 in six games, going 6 for 17 with
four runs scored, one double and four RBI...had a .412 slugging
rate and a .421 on-base mark...was hit twice by pitches and dropped
a sacrifice bunt.
Ashley Lokey - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-4, OF, L/R, Eugene, OR/Elmira)...batted .500 in six starts during a 5-1 week for the Urban Knights...went 8 for 16 with six runs scored, two doubles, a home run and one RBI...walked six times and reached base after being hit by a pitch...stole two bases and dropped a sacrifice bunt...posted an .813 slugging rate and a .652 on-base average.
Sherise Musquiz - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 6-0, R/R, Pico Rivera, CA/El Rancho)...registered a 2-0 mark for the week and tied the HPU career victory record...pitched two complete-game shutouts in four appearances...posted a 0.00 ERA in 16.0 innings of work...struck out six...permitted one walk and a .200 batting average.
Gayle Nisbet - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-6, 2B, R/R, Phoenix, AZ/Shadow
Mountain)...batted .538 in 4-0 weekend vs.
NDNU...went 7 for 13 with six runs scored, eight RBI, three doubles
and a .769 slugging rate...posted a .538 on-base mark.
Sarah Weisskopf - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-6, P, R/R, Kapolei, HI/Punahou)...pitched seven innings and earned a 1-0 shutout vs. HPU on April 18...surrendered just five base hits, no walks and a .208 batting average...permitted no earned runs.
Brittnie Whipple - Dixie State (Jr., 5-9, P, R/R, Moab, UT/Grand)...registered a 2-0 week with a 1.17 ERA for the Red Storm...permitted a .238 batting average...struck out six and allowed two earned runs while tossing a pair of complete games.
