HPU to host NCAA II West Super Regional

Sherise Musquiz HPU hosting Chico State May 21-22 in NCAA II West Super Regional

KANEOHE, HI – After winning the NCAA II West Sub-Regional, the Hawai‘i Pacific softball team now will play host in the NCAA II West Super Regional against Chico State beginning this Friday.

The Sea Warriors and Wildcats will commence a three-game series this weekend for the right to advance to the championship round in Missouri.

HPU and Chico State will play game one on Friday, May 21, at 2 p.m., with game two on Saturday at 11 a.m. If necessary, game three will start at 1:30 p.m. All games will be played at Howard A. Okita Field on HPU’s Hawai‘i Loa Campus.

The Sea Warriors (44-7) advanced to the matchup with the Wildcats by defeating Central Washington in Sunday's championship match. Sherise Musquiz, pitching her second game of the day, shut out Central Washington to send HPU to its first Super Regional.

Chico State (32-19) surfaced from the other half of the West Region bracket hosted by Sonoma State. They Wildcats won all three games, topping Grand Canyon and Sonoma State before defeating Dixie State in the championship game.

As the top seed in the region, HPU earned the right to host the Super Regional.
