PHOENIX, AZ - Dixie State sophomore 3B Kelsey Mendenhall (Tooele, UT/Tooele) and sophomore hurler Lauren Folta (Erda, UT/Tooele) have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, March 1, for games contested Feb. 22-28.
Mendenhall and Folta - who attended Tooele High School in Utah together - guided the Red Storm to a 4-2 week in conference play in Hawai‘i.
Mendenhall hit .692 in six starts, going 9 for 13 with eight runs
scored, 11 RBI, two doubles and three home runs.
She walked six times and reached base twice after being hit. She also produced a 1.538 slugging percentage and an .810 on-base rate.
Folta posted a 2-1 mark during the road trip to Hawai‘i, registering a 1.08 ERA in four appearances and three starts.
She hurled a complete-game shutout, struck out 21 batters over 16.2 innings, and permitted a scant.197 batting average by the opposition.

Teddy Barry - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-8, OF, L/R, Phoenix,
AZ/Gateway)...helped the Antelopes to a 3-0 weekend
sweep of Western New Mexico...batted .625 in three starts...was 5
for 8 with four runs scored, seven RBI, two home runs and three
walks...posted a 1.375 slugging rate and a .727 on-base mark.
Kelli Bridges - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-3, SS, R/R, Coeur d'Alene, ID/Lake City)...led Grand Canyon to a 3-0 weekend sweep of Western New Mexico...hit .455 by going 5 for 11 with two runs scored and two RBI...had a .455 slugging rate and a .455 on-base percentage.
Ivy Campas - Grand Canyon (So., 5-2, P, R/R, Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside)...posted a 2-0 mark vs. Western New Mexico over the weekend...tossed two complete games...struck out eight in 13 innings of work.
Bailie Hicken - Dixie State (So., 5-4, OF, L/R, Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak)...hit .591 in a 4-2 week in Hawai‘i for the Red Storm...started six games...went 13 for 22 with 10 runs scored and one RBI...a perfect 9 for 9 in stolen base attempts...walked once...had a .591 slugging rate and a .609 on-base mark.
Maile Kim - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-3, U, R/R, Salinas,
CA/Notre Dame)...hit .667 in a doubleheader sweep of
Dixie State...went 4 for 6 with a run scored and a .714 on-base
percentage...walked once and posted a .667 slugging mark.
Tracy Lubken - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-6, OF, L/R, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon)...batted .444 in three starts for the Antelopes as GCU swept Western New Mexico over the weekend...went 4 for 9 with six runs scored, four RBI, a homer and two walks...had a .778 slugging rate and a .545 on-base mark.
Ashley McFarland - Dixie State (Jr., 5-10, SS, R/R, Layton, UT/Layton)...batted .444 in six starts for Dixie State during a 4-2 Hawaiian road trip...went 8 for 18 with seven runs scored, one homer and six RBI...walked three times and stole two bases...had a .611 slugging rate and a .524 on-base percentage.
Ciera Senas - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-4, OF, L/R, Wahiawa, HI/Mililani)...batted .429 in doubleheader sweep of Dixie State...went 3 for 7 with two runs scored, a double and one RBI...posted a .429 on-base mark and a .571 slugging percentage.
Ashley Valine - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-9, P, R/R, Shell Beach, CA/San Luis Obispo)...earned a complete-game victory over Grand Canyon in lone appearance of the week...had a 0.00 earned run average...allowed one unearned run...struck out three in seven innings...permitted a .250 batting average.
Brittnie Whipple - Dixie State (Jr., 5-9, P, R/R, Moab, UT/Grand)...registered a 2-1 week with a 2.51 ERA for the Red Storm...permitted a .197 batting average...struck out 20 in 14.1 innings of work over three starts...tossed a complete-game shutout.
