PHOENIX, AZ - Hawai‘i Pacific junior utility player Kozy Toriano (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha Schools) and Hawai‘i Hilo sophomore pitcher Amber Waracka (Kahuluu, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) have been named the Pacific West Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, March 8, for games contested March 1-7.
Toriano led the Sea Warriors to a 3-1 series win vs. Grand Canyon by hittingat a torrid.833 pace in four starts. She was 10 for 12 with five runs scored and three RBI.
Toriano also doubled twice, walked two times and was 3 for 3 in
stolen base attempts. She finished the week with a 1.000 slugging
mark and an .857 on-base percentage.
Waracka won all three games in a 3-1 week for the Vulcans. She posted a 3-0 record with a 0.66 earned run average after tossing two complete games in three starts and four appearances.
Waracka pitched one shutout, threw 21.1 innings of work and allowed just two earned runs while striking out 13 batters. She permitted a .205 batting average.
PacWest Softball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll
Nicole Alconcel - Hawai‘i Hilo (So., 5-6, IN,
R/R, Wailuku, HI/H.P. Baldwin)...hit .545 in 
a 3-1 weekend series vs. Chaminade...started all four games...was
6 for 11 with four runs scored, one double, one homer run and four
RBI...walked once...had a sacrifice fly and sacrifice bunt...stole
a base...produced a .909 slugging rate and a .538 on-base mark.
Sierrah Garcia - Academy of Art (So., 5-7, P, L/R, Los Banos, CA/Los Banos)...posted a 3-0 mark with a 2.56 earned run average over the weekend...started two games, completed one, and appeared in four...struck out 15 while surrendering five earned runs in 13.2 innings of work.
Andrea Hanchey - Academy of Art (Fr., 5-4, U, R/R, Galt, CA/Galt)...hit .571 in a 3-1 weekend for the Urban Knights...was 8 for 14 with six runs scored, a double and one RBI...walked three times...posted a .714 slugging rate and a .700 on-base average.
Ashley Lokey - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-4, OF, L/R, Eugene, OR/Elmira)...batted .615 in four starts...was 8 for 13 with four runs scored, a double, a triple and one RBI...walked twice and stole a base...had an .867 slugging rate and a .667 on-base mark.
Tracy Lubken - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-6, OF, L/R,
Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon)...smac
ked seven doubles and drove in 11 runs in eight starts during a
5-3 week for the Antelopes...hit .367...went 11 for 30 with nine
runs scored, two walks, a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt...also
reached base after being hit...had a .600 slugging rate and a .424
on-base mark.
Brandi Sasaki - Chaminade (Sr., 5-2, C/DP, R/R, Honolulu, HI/Kaimuki)...batted .600 in four games for the Silverswords...was 6 for 10 with a run, a double, a triple and four RBI...walked four times and was hit by a pitch...had a .733 on-base average...posted a .900 slugging mark.
Amy Searcy - Grand Canyon (Sr., 5-6, P, R/R, Bixby, OK/Bixby)...posted a 3-1 record in four starts for the Antelopes during the week...tossed three complete games, two shutouts and a no-hitter...struck out 10 and gave up six earned runs in 25 innings of action...had a 1.68 ERA.
Chante Tesoro - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., 5-1, U,
L/R, Kaneohe, HI/Hawaii Baptist Academy)...drove in
seven runs in weekend series vs. Grand Canyon...hit .45
5 in four starts by going 5 for 11...had one double, was hit by a
pitch, and turned in a .500 on-base average...also contributed a
.545 slugging rate.
Ashley Valine - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-9, P, R/R, Shell Beach, CA/San Luis Obispo)...posted a 2-0 record for the Sea Warriors in a four-game set vs. Grand Canyon...started both contests...tossed one complete game....permitted one earned run and one walk over 13 innings of work...recorded a 0.54 earned run average.
Jarrell Veazie - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 5-9, 1B, R/R, Midway, UT/Wasatch)...batted .500 in three starts for the Seasiders...went 5 for 10 with a home run and four RBI...walked once...produced an .800 slugging rate and a .545 on-base mark.
