PHOENIX, AZ - Grand Canyon freshman OF Haley Walker (Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle) and rookie hurler Kiley Raica (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro) earned the first Pacific West Conference weekly softball awards of 2012.

The PacWest announced the honors on Feb. 27 for games contested during the opening week of the season - Feb. 1-5.

(Feb. 6, 2012) - Player of the Week (Feb. 1-5)...Haley Walker - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-4, OF, L/R, Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle)...led Antelopes to 3-1 start to the season by hitting .600 in four games...went 6 for 10 with two RBI and two walks...posted a .600 slugging mark and a .667 on-base rate...also had a sacrifice bunt.

(Feb. 6, 2012) - Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 1-5)...Kiley Raica - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-8, R/R, Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro)...posted a 2-0 week with a 2.00 earned run average in 14.0 innings of work...tossed two complete games, including one shutout...allowed just four earned runs while striking out seven batters.

PacWest Softball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll

Elyse Cordova - Academy of Art (So., 5-3, OF, L/R, Tulare, CA/Tulare Union)...hit .500 in opening four games of season despite 0-4 start for Urban Knights...was 7 for 14 with two runs, two RBI, walk and three stolen bases...produced a .500 slugging rate and a .533 on-base mark.

Tory Ferreira - California Baptist (Sr., 5-9, P, R/R, Murrieta, CA/Calvary Chapel Murrieta)...pitched a complete-game victory vs. Cal State San Bernardino on Feb. 3 in game two of twinbill...struck out one...allowed one earned run and three hits over 7.0 innings.

Celina Garces - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., 5-2, IF, R/R, Mililani, HI/Mililani)...led Sea Warriors to a 2-0 start by hitting .667 with an .833 slugging rate and a .667 on-base mark...went 4 for 6 with a run, double and RBI.

Kellie Hislop - Dominican (CA) (Sr., 5-7, 1B/P, R/R, Fremont, CA/Moreau Catholic)...hit .333 in seven games during the Best of the West Tournament in Turlock, CA...went 6 for 18 with two runs, two doubles, a triple and five RBI...had a .556 slugging rate...reached base six times after getting hit...had a .500 on-base mark.

Shannan Hokama - Chaminade (Fr., 5-1, OF, L/R, Torrance, CA/South)...led the Silverswords to a split in their season-opening doubleheader vs. Pacific Lutheran on Feb. 3...hit .600 after going 3 for 5 with two runs, a double and an .800 slugging rate...also had a .600 on-base mark.

Emma Holden - California Baptist (Sr., 5-7, P, R/R, San Carlos, CA/Notre Dame)...pitched a complete-game victory vs. Cal State San Bernardino on Feb. 3...struck out six, allowed one earned run and scattered four hits in 7.0 innings.

Breanne Patton - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-7, 1B/P, R/R, Ewa Beach, HI/James Campbell)...tossed complete-game victory in first appearance of the season - a 5-2 win vs. Pacific Lutheran on Feb. 4...struck out five, allowed no earned runs and scattered five hits over 7.0 innings of action...also hit .500 in two games, going 2 for 4 with a run, double and walk...had a .750 slugging rate and a .600 on-base mark.

Lauren Regester - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-8, IF/C, R/R, Chandler, AZ/Basha)...helped GCU to 3-1 start by hitting .545...went 6 for 11 with two runs, double, RBI and four walks...had a .636 slugging rate and a .667 on-base mark.

Kiki Sepulveda - Grand Canyon (So., 5-7, P/UT, R/R, Corona, CA/Roosevelt)...posted 1-0 record in two starts...tossed a complete-game shutout vs. Western New Mexico on Feb. 5...in 10.0 innings struck out two, allowed two earned runs, and gave up eight hits.

Lisa Tarnowski - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-6, C/OF, R/R, Mesa, AZ/Mountain View)...hit just .286 during opening week but made most of the opportunities...went 4 for 14 with two runs, two home runs and eight RBI in the four-game stretch...had a .714 slugging rate and a .333 on-base mark...walked once and stole a base.
