Trio of PacWest players earn 2011 Daktronics, Inc., NCAA Division II All-America honors

Maile Kim PHOENIX, AZ – A trio of Pacific West Conference players have been selected to the 2011 Daktronics, Inc., NCAA Division II All-America Softball Team.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, May 25, from Rolla, MO.

Dixie State sophomore utility player Anna Cue (Murrieta Valley, CA/Murrieta Valley) was named to the Second Team, while Grand Canyon rookie 2B Claire Zampini (Phoenix, AZ/Deer Valley) and Hawai‘i Pacific junior DP Maile Kim (Salinas, CA/Notre Dame) earned Honorable Mention accolades.

Division II sports information directors from across the country selected the members of the 2011 Daktronics, Inc., NCAA Division II All-America Softball Team. All three PacWest selections earned 2011 Daktronics, Inc., First Team All-West Region honors.

Cue, the PacWest Player of the Year and an All-PacWest First Team selection, led the PacWest in hitting (.437), runs batted in (53), and in slugging (.817). She ranked ninth in on-base percentage (.462), tied for 10th in base hits (55), and is second in home runs (12) and total bases (103). She is tied for eighth in doubles (10).

Kim earned her third straight All-PacWest First Team selection as a designated player this year. The 2009 Newcomer and Freshman of the Year finished the season sixth in hitting (.387) in the conference, while she was eighth in slugging (.574), 10th in on-base percentage (.461), fifth in hits (60) and tied for third in RBI (46).

Zampini ended the year with a .414 batting average in 47 starts. She had 70 base hits, 46 runs scored, 12 doubles, three triples, 22 RBI, a .538 slugging mark and a .448 on-base average.
